Hello,

I am a Permanent Resident of Canada since last July. I got married this February, and my wife is here on Visitor visa. She was missing police clearance so we applied it last week, it might take about 1 month to receive.

I am wondering if my wife can get OHIP meanwhile as I am a valid health card holder and a PR? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks!
Rick

Visitors do not qualify for OHIP. You will have to sponsor her for PR. If you sponsor her using the inland process, she will qualify for OHIP once she has first stage approval (this is taking around 16 months). If you sponsor her using the outland process, she will only qualify for OHIP once she is a PR.

Once she is a PR
. . . plus 3 months.
