My husband is sponsoring me. We received documentation stating that my “initial assessment” has been conducted and no further documentation is required at this time. Based on varying pieces of information found on different governmental websites, my interpretation was that this served as my AIP, which would allow for me to apply for OHIP as my “application was in process”.
This was not such the case. I need the letter referencing my “minimal eligibility requirements.” I found out today that I likely will not have my letter referencing my “minimal eligibility requirements” until June- mid-summer. I believe this is known as my AIP letter. Please correct me if I am wrong.
If this is true, then once I receive my “minimal eligibility requirements” letter, I am eligible to apply for OHIP. Correct? Will I still have to wait three months from the date on that document? Or will I be qualified to move forward based on the fact that I am on our lease and have been since February 2010. I have been in Canada the majority of the time thus fulfilling the rest of the requirements.
Some other information:
My application is being processed through the Buffalo office as we applied from outside of Canada. We went this route for no particular reason other than the fact that my permanent residency is in the states. (I consider where I live now my primary residence.) I have my visitor’s status just as a safeguard and have maintained that the whole time I have been here.
Your time and information provided is greatly appreciated.
