Hi guys,

Just finishing up my application but I bumped in to an issue

Number 4 on the citizenship application guidelines asks for education records from 4 years ago

4. Education Records
Provide photocopies of all your official education records if you attended an educational institution in the four (4) years immediately before the date of your application. Official education records are:
report cards; or transcripts; or attendance records
The education records must cover each calendar year, if applicable. It is sufficient to submit one official education document per calendar year of schooling during the relevant four (4) year period. Note: You are not required to submit proof of attendance at English/French as a second language training programs.
In addition, provide photocopies of official education records for all children in Canada or abroad who were under the age of 18 in the last four (4) years immediately before the date of your application even if you are not applying for Canadian citizenship on their behalf. You must also provide documents for any children who are already Canadian citizens, if applicable.
Note: Student identification cards and letters from institutions, teachers, principals are not accepted as official education records. For example, an official transcript from an educational institution would satisfy this requirement. A letter from an institution is only acceptable in the following two circumstances:
1. Child has recently enrolled in school and a report card has not yet been issued 2. Child is being homeschooled (see below)
Format: Clear and legible photocopy Home Schooling

Does this mean I need to request official transcripts from the university I completed my undergrads PLUS the current transcripts from the current university I am doing my masters? Do they have to be the sealed official?
Because our universities allow unofficial transcripts to be printed from their portals as well.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest you obtain the original transcripts from your university.

They charge a small fee for those and you want to get it right the first time.

Good luck.

Thanks Lenovo, I already requested them from the 2 universities. Thank god for online transcript requests.

I believe this OFFICIAL transcript thing is a new addition to the application, because my friend sent the printed off ones ( he applied in 2012).

It doesn't hurt for official transcript if you have. When I applied though i just photocopied my certificate and printed out from online - i mean thats what it literally says "photocopy of official transcripts". When my document verification interview came up recently (after my Cit test) i took my original certificates but she never asked for them - i did see her look through my printouts from university record and it seemed sufficient. But yup if you can get the official ones then just order them and send them with your package. Dont get it sent to them seperately - include it with your application. Good luck.

I think, any photocopy of ur official transcript that shows you took and passed English language should be fine..

"Official" simply means from an official source, i.e. the school, college or university. It does not mean that you have to get originals in a sealed envelope. Notice that they ask for PHOTOCOPIES.
