Off Campus work permit

I came to Canada in Septemeber 2013

Got off campus work permit in April 2014.
Validity is till Nov 2014

From June, 2014 CIC changed rules and students don't need work permit to work off campus.

How it's gonna effect me??


P. S lease excuse my lack of research on this. This might be already documented and discussed somewhere on this forum but I am not able to put all the pieces together.

@Amrinder.... The change of rule applies only to students who applied after 1 June 2014.... So will not affect you...

As long as you have a SIN its not gonna affect you. And when your OCWP expires you don't have to renew or do anything too

@startup Thanks man. True It's not gonna apply to me and I know it cause I wasted 160 dollars to get ocwp in the first place, otherwise I could have avoided that.

@Kiran.. Thanks bud. That's exactly what I was looking for whether I have to renew or not. Is this documented somewhere especially my case/scenario ??

Yes it will. If you are coming in September. No problem for you . You can start working off campus right from the start.

If your off campus permit is valid till the end of ur studies (which means as long as your study permit is valid), then you needn't worry about it. However, if it is expiring before the completion of your studies, you need to renew it (if your study permit is still valid but off campus permit has expired). You will need to follow the same process as all candidates who applied or landed after June 01 2014 as their study permit itself states the condition of off campus permit for 20 hours a week.
