Hi everybody:

Has anybody who started studying in September 2012 applied for OCWP yet?

I was going to wait until March 1 but then our immigration consultant at Seneca College told me I can apply at the end of February and there was no need to wait till March.

I applied for my EVN and received it in 2 days so I went on and applied for OCWP on February 22.

Now I am a little worried because I don't know if I should have waited till March 1 but I think since our immigration consultant told me it was OK then I am not the only one who applied at the end of February.

Please let me know if it was OK to apply 6 days earlier. I got my EVN and it was ok.

I would also like to know if it is a common practice among international students to apply a bit earlier.

Don't worry my roommate from Seneca got his OCWP after 4.5 months of landing following the same procedure.

I had the same questions because I thought it should be ok to request EVN a little earlier; however, I decided to wait till March 1st to be on the safe side. I think you will be alright.

I am tring to aply on line for OCWP but have run into problem and nee help, please.

On-line application IMM 5710 (pdf) requires a digital signature. How to include a digital signature? I was able to upload photo and scanned copies of passport but I can't do the digital signature.

Called CIC and they said to just type name on pdf in applicable field - but pdf form doesn't allow this. Called again and CIC said either print and submit hard copy application (what's the point of online application?) or send question to CIC IT folks which takes 10 days to reply. I suggested printing application, signing, scan and submit electronically but CIC that would not likely work.

anyone else encounter this problem with on-line applications requiring digital signature and have a solution?

My immigration consultant told me to date it and ignore the signature. You will electronically sign your whole application on the CIC website right before you pay.

Hey guys, I'm trying to apply for a OCWP, but I'm having some problems. First of all do I really need a job offer in order to apply for a OCWP? Because I read that you don't really need a job offer if you are applying for a OCWP, therefore on the name, address of the employer I wrote N/A. Then it was asking me about the expected duration of the employment. I already got my EVN, my marks are good, but I don't reallt know what to do now. I need help please. Thanks in advance for those who will help me.
