odds of getting approved after denied once

Hi,

I just lodged my second TRV online application last April 3 and still waiting for the result. I was once denied last November 2013 for the following reasons:
- Travel history
- Immigration status

During my previous application, I have not traveled to US yet though I stated in my application I will be visiting a friend before my confirmed trip to the US.

Here is my current profile:
- Philippine passport holder.
- expatriate worker in Saudi Arabia for 9 years (working in a government hospital with supervision role)
- Traveled to UAE (2x), United States and Singapore
- Valid 10 years ME US visa.
- Married and will be traveling alone for this application as a side trip of my US visit.

I don't see why travel history is a problem, you went to the US before. (EDIT: Nvm, didn't see that you said you didn't visit US on your last application)

I've never heard of immigration status though.

Immigration status means you are currently living/working in a country where you don't have permanent status - for example, as a foreign worker.

And yes your 'immigration status" means you do not have strong ties with your home country. By the way, does your wife live in Saudi Arabia too?

yes my wife lives in Saudi Arabia too as foreign worker..our children are in the Philippines though (schooling)..we go home every year..both of us traveled together in UAE and Singapore except US last year as she does not have a US visa yet...she might get one after delivery of our second baby..

purpose of visit to Canada will be purely tourism to see friends and see the sites..same purpose as my first application..I just want to make most of my trip to US by going to Canada for a short visit...

So you actually do not have ties neither in Philippines nor in Saudi Arabia.
Also, it is very ODD if a husband goes to Canada to visit but his wife stays behind. From CANADIAN point of you it is odd (and therefore suspicious) that you do not travel with you wife as a FAMILY.
