OCWP and network marketing

Hi everyone!

I am an international student, having a valid study permit and off campus work permit (until summer 2015). Now, i know very well about my limitations regarding work off campus (20hrs per week during the term//40 during breaks) and am currently only working about 14 hrs per week (teaching at a dance studio).
Recently, a friend of mine approached me to join her in one of those network marketing business, where you basically sell stuff through an online website and you get commission on everything you sell to your clients, plus you can also find people who want to join under yourself as a sponsor and you'll get commission from their purchases as well...the usual thing. Regardless of whether or not you believe these businesses to be successful or not :p , does anyone here know if this is allowed on an OCWP? I have gone through policies from the company itself (it runs in a few countries, so I even if i was Canadian, I would also be "allowed" to approach contacts for example in UK or US and sell to them, even though technically i do not have a work permit in these countries. The products are however not available yet in my home country!) and it only says the business is open to anyone above 18, who is not being convicted for crime/sit in jail etc. In another paragraph it also states "available to anyone over 18 regardless of race, age, nationality etc". My friend's upline who has been working in the business since a couple of years said it is fine for international students on an OCWP and that she knows many who have done it...but I obviously don't know if she just wants me to join :p
I am just wondering how CIC would look at this, since technically they can't really track the hrs I spent "working" in this business? I am expecting not to make much money for a while anyways, but i still will have to declare it for tax purposes etc, correct? Also, I am planning to take on a PGWP after graduation from my current BA program, so i don't wanna get into trouble regarding this..
Anyone has thoughts on this topic?
Thanks a bunch and enjoy your long weekend! 8)

I would get my commission sent via a cheque which apparently has an "itemized earning statement" attached to the cheque that you should keep for tax records. so i could declare my income in that way pretty easily...the 20hr per week problem...not sure about that, yeah...

just a side note i know few people who tried such a scheme and its illegal ( for international students)very rarely caught but why take chances on such a scheme and put ur future in danger ... these schemes never work....i am sure ur friends sold u on the concept but trust me it never works..... u have a good job stick to it. does the scheme make u buy items worth $100-$200? if u think ur good in marketing then find a job in a good marketing firm which is a boost to ur resume.

Hmm, no they don't make me buy anything? I know, I am skeptical for sure and I don't believe everything my friend told me...but I'm mainly concerned about the legal issue first...
so you mean it is considered illegal work? Or just because it would be a scheme, if I participated in it it would be considered illegal? but if it was a scheme and say it really won't give me any money, then it's not illegal work I have done, no? I am tempted to try it out, I have to say...but only if I won't get in trouble with CIC.

like i said its a business....and not covered under OCWP ....there is nothing to prove its employment. Its a get rich fast scheme u will start alienating ur friends first as every friend becomes potential customer ..friends and people will start avoiding u etc have u seen anyone getting rich on these schemes? maybe the guy who started it .....these schemes r around for many years as they say a su.cker is born every min.

OK. so just to make clear - it is not legal because it is considered operating a business and they can't track my hours? is that correct?
