Yes, the 5-year ban would be implemented from the date that the amended regulations came into effect. In your mom's case, she received the ban more than two months from that date
But it is the authority who communicates two years
Can we do something on this point
I applied online on 2nd Nov from india and refused on 7th Nov. Reasons are paragraph 179 purpose of visit and assets and financial status. I am gov employee.
I too applied trv for my wife on Nov 1st and submitted Sponsorship on Oct12.
I am still waiting for response from CIC. I shown 22k cad liquid assets and 170kcad property assets. As a invited, I shown 45k CAD. Provided day to day itenary for spending Christmas holiday with me. Leave approval from her orgonization.. Return flight ticket. Hope they will approve it.
If they rejected my wife visa, I decided to cancel my PR and also sponsorship and go home. As I am paying good tax per year and shown good track record with cic. They should help us to be unite with loved ones .

I applied Trv (visitor) for my wife 22 days ago (India, Online application) submission confirmation Oct 22, 2018 and I didn’t got any response or decision yet. I am hearing around here and some of my friends got in one week, most of them in less than two week. One of my close friend actually got decision on 3 days. I am curious that why my application is taking this long and when can I expect the decision? (Processing time showing 42 days)

Feel so bad about this process. I don't know why they putting so much restriction for spouse.
They don't, as long as you can convince them you're going to leave canada after your visit.

My Brother applied along with his wife and daughter on 16th October via paper from New Delhi. Got refusal on 12th Nov
I sent him invitation saying that i will cover all of their expenses for 4 weeks. - my bank statement - 12k CAD
Grounds for Refusal:
family ties in Canada and in your country of residence - my father lives in india( however he has canada super visa) and my sister also lives in india
personal assets and financial status.- he has 10 year old business and his wife has 1 year old business. Just to let you know my niece is 3 years old and hasn't started school yet. they had roughly 20000 CAD in account alone.
based on your travel history. - my sister in law has been to germany few years ago. Also all three went to dubai in september this year.
Any suggestions?

I applied for my TRV paper base from Chandigarh VFS on 26 october didnt recieve anything yet
I have applied Visitor visa (online application) for my parents from India.
Application date: Nov 22. On the same day, received confirmation for the Application submission.
Today (Nov 23) I received an email saying the application has been updated. I missed making a note of "Details about your application status" earlier.
Is this email normal, that we get this application updated email in the first few days?
