I never expected it to be faster, but not the lag it seems to be currently having. We chose it because it was just easier for us to coordinate not being in the same country. I guess I made the assumption that once received, it would be queued right along side paper apps and be looked at in consecutive order but you know what they say about assumptions.
Well that not having to coordinate across time and space is a pretty big advantage - be happy with the benefit you got from that and just wait, I get the impression the 'lag' is not that large (although of course it feels like it). Maybe the time you saved dealing with docs makes up for it.
I could only speculate about why this lag, but the obvious candidates are more people using it than expected, some unexpected short-staffing or resource issue as a result (possibly related to it being a pilot, minor glitches that have to be solved by people in demand i.e. specialists), and then the covid/afghanistan scheduling issues.
But I do think a lot of people leapt on board the online train thinking it had to be faster, and ... it's a beta. Clearly enough people prefer it and it;s pretty likely they'll make it the default way to apply as soon as they get the glitches ironed out.
