The photos have to be taken in the last 6 months so by the time they are done processing they require recent photos

Ah, thanks! So dumb that they ask for photos upfront then, knowing that NOTHING will be finished processing by 6 months.

This is unfortunate, I got AIP and SA so COPR should come soon and I had a bike accident on Saturday that messed up my face beyond recognition so I can't take a new picture until the swelling and bruising goes away :(

Oh Noooooo! o_O I'm so sorry to hear this. Wishing you a speedy recovery (I hope you were able to get provincial health insurance already)!

Thank you! Yes, although I am being sponsored by my husband for PR, I actually started here as a student in 2017 and then moved to a post graduation work permit last year so I've had provincial health coverage for the past 3 years

Congrats!
Just curious did sponsor or applicant receive the COPR email?

@Sakina89 is the COPR document like the work permits with a number and stuff or is it just a letter confirming you are a permanent resident now?

Hi everyone,

Recently got our AIP September 1st, 2020, application was received in on October 17th, 2019. I got an interesting email, sender's address is 'CIC-Etobicoke-Landing@cic.gc.ca' this is the exact email:

"Dear Applicant,

We are following up in regards to the confirmation that you are presently residing in Canada, in order to continue processing your Permanent Residency Application.

If you are still residing in Canada, please reply to this email to confirm? If you are out of the country, also reply to this email to let us know if arrangements are being made for your return?
Thank you,
TP,
Case Processing Agent
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)"

Did anyone else receive this? I am also feeling fishy about it..however the email address sounds legit and in the subject line they even had my full name and application number....

thank you in advance!

When you hit reply does it show the same email address you listed above? it does sound legit and I think some august applicants had similar emails, try checking the spreadsheet for august and scroll all the wait to the right to see the comments from the applicants, I think some wrote details about emails like this

Yes, it does. Ok will take a look. It just sound so weird for them to be asking that... especially via email.

Keep us posted. But if all they want to know if you are in canada or abroad I don't think there is much anyone could do with that piece of info if it was a scam? I don't know

Since the pandemic persons have posted that have received email from the office in their area asking questions like those and the emails were in fact legitimate. I have even seen one where the email had grammatical errors and it turned out to be legitimate. If you are concerned contact the call center and they can verify if an email was sent to you but it sounds legit to me
