I would have expected that with the introduction of Biometrics, application processing times should have been a lot faster. Security and Info sharing ought to be done in minutes via the introduction of biometrics. Ironically it seems like processing times have been elongated with the introduction of Biometrics.

I just order GCMS notes after months of waiting. Hopefully they shed light on my case:
I've been able to get through to CIC with the following information
Eligibility - In Progress / Recommend Pass
Criminality - Passed
Security - Not initiated

However, this was the information I got using the webform
"Dear Sir/Madam,
Your file is currently under review and requires additional verifications. As a result, the assessment period will be outside of our posted processing times.
Unfortunately at this time we are not able to determine when your application will be finalized, but our office will contact you as soon as all verifications are completed, or if any additional information or documents are required."

After 2 days finally got hold of an agent and said my application requires final review from the officer
Eligibility - Recommended Pass, Criminality - Passed and Security - Not started
The officer is waiting to get response from the government agencies who are carrying the background checks. These government agencies take time to carry out their checks and once they respond, my file should be picked up and approved. He didn't say how long it will take for them to respond but seemed very confident that it shouldn't be long because at this point the application looks to be in final stages so it's just a matter of time when the government agencies respond

I am exactly in same situation.
I got the exact same response from Ottawa last week that my file is currently under review and requires additional verifications.
However, when I called the agent today he said my application requires final verification,
Eligibility - Recommended Pass, Criminality - Passed and Security - Not started
According to him, my file requires final review by the officer who must be waiting for government agencies to respond. These government agencies carry out background checks and take their own time and it's not something they can control. Once they respond, he will pick up my file and approve it. He can't see why my application will be delayed any further as my file is in final stages and he was very confident that it's just a matter of time when the government agencies respond.
I believe we must be going through security checks.

Reading messages like this make me feel hopeful. I got the same reply to a web form query which said that my file needs additional verifications. My eligibility has been met since November and background checks have not begun. It has already been 7 and a half months & will complete my 8th month on June 2nd. Don't know what more I can do at this point apart from waiting.
