Dear Sir/Madam,

Your file is currently under review and requires additional verifications. As a result, the assessment period will be outside of our posted processing times.

Unfortunately at this time we are not able to determine when your application will be finalized, but our office will contact you as soon as all verifications are completed, or if any additional information or documents are required.

We appreciate your patience and ask that you keep correspondence with our office to a minimum.

Regards,

what could this mean...?

Last week I submitted a web form asking the status of my application, and today received the same email from Ottawa VO

The "additional verifications" part suggests to me that the file has one aspect that is under "review required". The standard generic message says something more like "your file is being processed, we will contact you if we need any more information" and does not mention that the assessment will be longer than normal, or that anything "additional" is required.

If I received that message, I would call them and ask what specific aspect requires additional verification.

Last week I submitted a web form asking the status of my application, and today received the same email from Ottawa VO

My reply was different.

"
Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

We verified the information you provided regarding status of your file and have forwarded it to the responsible office.

They will contact you if further information is required or if a decision is made on your application.

We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry."

I really don't know what is exact meaning of this reply.

@MintyUK- can you add my details too? AOR 18 Oct, FSW-O, Ottawa
Current status- IP1
Eligibility-met
Criminality- Not started
Security- Not started
Thanks so much for all your great work!

That is excellent news, you're almost there! I edited my most recent post with the table updates. I don't want to post it too often in a new post because it's so big...
Thanks a lot! Amazing job with the table, much better than immitracker, really :)

Actually, I can't get why everybody says that everything is so good with my file. Does this "security in progress" really mean that I'm about to receive the golden mail? Can't it be Security Screening?

It's because you have eligibility and criminality passed, which is a lot more progress than most people have. Eligibility is also by far the most likely to lead to rejection, and you have passed it. Very few ordinary people will get rejected at the security stage. In contrast, at the eligibility stage, an ordinary person may be rejected for all kinds of things, including insufficient proof of funds, issues with work experience, issues with education credentials etc.

Thanks, got it. I just feel a little bit scared because of the word "security" as I read a lot about months and years of waiting when one is under the security screening. Will hope for the best, I just wouldn't like to wait for one more year :)

Yep difficult to figure it out, my security started somewhere in 1st week of April after eligibility passed still waiting for decision. So cannot say its normal security check or under SS.
But yes as Minty said at this stage chances of rejection are rare.
