Oct 25 same eligibility met in December. It is happening with everyoneSo i called cic today, agent updated that eligibility has been met since December (thought it's still not updated in account) and background check didn't start as of now..she mentioned application looks good, nothing required...oct 24th aor.. why is it taking them so long to start background check after eligibility was met in December only..VO Ottawa..FSW outland India...any pointers??
I read somewhere that the 6 months actually starts from the date your R10 checks are completed and not the date of your AOR.I see a lot of worry and counting down to the "six months" date, but my understanding is this is a totally arbitrary date which doesn't really mean a lot. From looking at the various forums and trackers, the 80% approval in six months statistic may no longer be accurate, due to higher volumes of applications since late last year.
The bar in your profile doesn't mean anything much, since it is not based on your file except that it's your AOR date plus six months. The expected completion date seems to never be updated even if CIC knows your file is going to take much more or much less time. I think the bar is only there give an artificial feeling of progress, so people call them less.
That being said, call centre agents are a little more likely to look up details for you if you are past the six months line. So if you are past six months and have not called them, please give that a try! I got lots of useful info from the agent and lots of stress relief (see my previous post about this). The Visa Offices may also periodically try to fast-track files that are past six months, to help with their statistics (total speculation here, but it would make sense).
In terms of what to conclude about your application taking more than six months - the vast majority of reasons are due to bureaucracy, and do not mean your application will be rejected. It's really hard for all of us waiting, with our plans on hold and our futures in the balance, but the six months line does not mean much, and going past it is not a major cause for concern.
If anyone knows differently on any of this, please feel free to comment.
The average timeline for FSW-O Indians from Ottawa is 160-200 days.So i called cic today, agent updated that eligibility has been met since December (thought it's still not updated in account) and background check didn't start as of now..she mentioned application looks good, nothing required...oct 24th aor.. why is it taking them so long to start background check after eligibility was met in December only..VO Ottawa..FSW outland India...any pointers??
What's your NOC?So i called cic today, agent updated that eligibility has been met since December (thought it's still not updated in account) and background check didn't start as of now..she mentioned application looks good, nothing required...oct 24th aor.. why is it taking them so long to start background check after eligibility was met in December only..VO Ottawa..FSW outland India...any pointers??
Yes, I've been wondering that too. Surely it can't be all random. There definitely has to be some kind of pattern. Obviously, answering yes to statutory questions may cause some delay in security checks.I wish immitracker had NOC section. I am thinking it matters a lot. Plus if one answered yes to statutory questions.
@$ani - Did you ask the agent about your visa office? No update at all since medical passed on 6 nov . Pin drop silence till.now. crossed 6 months too. Called the agent she said nothing has started yet and dont know how much time it will take..
