Our background check was in "Your application is in progress. The next step is to conduct a background check", which I gathered meant they hadn't started it. Then a couple weeks ago they asked for a new police certificate, which we provided. Then nothing (no change that they were waiting for documents, for example). Now the background check status has changed to "Not Applicable", which according to some people in other threads might mean it hasn't started yet, but I assume means nothing at all other than my agent can't be bothered to update our file in a way that makes sense. YAY CIC! :)

I honestly wouldn't care except that we want to plan a vacation for my husband to come visit me here (he has a tourist visa and has already done this once during the process), but are hesitant to do anything then have him have to run back to Sao Paulo for one reason or another.

CoPR arrived in the mail today so all that's left to do now is land! :D

Hey guys - sending my friendly congratulations to everyone getting their CoPR this week!

An update for us:

We received DM/approval email 3-3-17. We haven't heard anything since, and are not expecting a PPR, since I am American and submitted copies of my Passport up front. I hope we get our CoPR soon! ❤

You should get a PPR. The rest of us all have, regardless of what we sent up front.

I called and spoke with an agent, and apparently US applicants are not required to send in their physical passport, only a copy of the information page. He also said many people receive the CoPR in the mail one day, not even knowing they were approved beforehand. (I had a chuckle about that). I am just going off of what I was told. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'll update if I hear anything more :)

That was the way it was happening prior to the first of the year, but I don't think I've seen anyone from the U.S. since the January batch out of Ottawa and onward who was not required to send the Annex A, new photos photos, a passport photocopy, and a prepaid envelope for return of the COPR.

Take what the people on the phone tell you with a grain of salt, unless they specifically tell you something about the exact status of your own application. Anything they tell you about the process as a whole could easily be outdated/wrong, based on my experience of reading these forums since last May.

They request copy of passport and 2 photos and annex a. Took us two weeks after DM to recieve PPR email. Then another 2 weeks to recieve COPR paperwork. We didn't use a courier cause every courier said they couldn't do it but it can be done using a waybill much faster not snail mail lol

Hello everyone.
Just got my PPR request today. Outland application from Mississauga, and Rome Visa office.
Rome VO received my application on 17 th of October.
Since the email said i only have to send my passport(the original), is there anything else i have to send,
or any place on the CIC website I should check? Or I am just being paranoid for nothing :)
Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone,

My partner (a very lucky Canadian) and I applied 13 October 2016. I'm unsure of how to accurately track progress of this application though. The last update in ECAS was:

Medical results have been received.

But in MyCIC it says:

Background check - We are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information.

I'm seeing lots of lucky new Canadians receiving notice that their applications have been approved, but I haven't noticed any Australians in the mix. Am I on my own this round? I know we've been told not to contact our visa office (in my case Sydney) until the processing time of 10 months has passed, but I just really want to return home to Canada.

Can someone please say something encouraging to set my mind at ease? Maybe we should all catch up for a beer once we end up back in Canada?

Don't worry, most of the people who got approved are the ones with Ottawa VO. My wife's application (HKVO) is still at reviewing stage for most items.

I'm glad I'm not alone on this GFLiam. Hopefully the Sydney Office pick up their feet soon.

As far as I can see, those of us going through the Sao Paul Visa Office are in the same boat as you. So, don't worry. Just the lucky ones sneaking through Ottawa VO are being treated as if their case has any degree of urgency to it ;)

Yay to beer!

is anyone else not seeing any of the columns between H and T on the october spreadsheet?
