for sure. dont worry too much. It might be the guy who is responsible for updating our case is not available. the officer may already start processing our case. people who get updates still waiting for couple weeks to get PPR. for CIC, no news means good news. which means you are not required additional documents. god bless us.
Thanks a lot. You are very helpful. :)

Okay..so I need help to see if this is normal. I received today by mail a "confirmation of permanent residence" document, one for every member in the family, and it says we need to go to the border. Certainly no one asked for our passports to be sent, just to take this info with us and go to the border. (Or book an appointment but that takes a month). We are inland applicants. Any ideas?
That's the standard procedure for visa exempt countries. You just need to go down to the border and "flagpole". And that's what you need to tell the Americans. "I am here to do flag poling today". They'll give you your paperwork and you go into the U.S. customs office. They'll ask you a couple of questions and send you back to the Canadians. The Canadians will then let you sign your papers and you are PR. Very quick and easy. If you are too far away from the Border. You can book an appointment with them at some of their offices. But the flag poling way of dealing with it, is the most convenient.

Guys what do think of this case : one of my friends who is an early November applicant, had her profile updated to ip today, but it says that the processing of her application began on April 27th!!! That's very early, isn't it? And why would she be in processing since then and not receive any updates, or a decision for that matter?
Noe They consider application IN PROCESS after they give AOR. No separate In Process step.

Thank you so much, I appreciate your detailed reply! So I don't need to get a priori any visa for the US, just say the flag poling password :) and I'm done. Can't believe we are almost there. Good luck everyone.

But the date that they say that they started the processing is a few months after receiving the AOR and the medical . So what is that date?

Is this the first correspondence you're receiving from Ottawa ? If it is the first, then be sure that the original PPC sent meets all the requirements - i.e PPC was issued within 2 months of your application receipt date. Also , when last did you travel home ? after PPC date. Random emails do come from Sydney that may be automated and qualifies to be disregarded. Ottawa emails though, I'll suggest you make sure PPC sent met all the rules and then I'll follow up with proof that it was sent at a certain date.

One more thing, there are times that at the discretion of the case officer, they want the most up to date criminal info..again this only makes sense if you've traveled recently.

From your timeline, I see you applied in October and got your PCC in december. PCC validity is measured against when your application was submitted and it is clear that since you got in December, your pcc is no more than 2 months from your application date, you should be fine.

Here's what I suggest. Send an email to Ottawa (since you got the email from Ottawa), stating that you've sent the PCC, attach proof of receipt at CIC.

On a side note, it looks like you sent the PCC before CIC asked. It is always good with immigration to follow instructions no matter how anxious you are - this way, if something goes wrong, you can show that you did all that was asked of you. Did you send the PCC to Sydney ? I see now that Ottawa is asking for it as it appears your file is actually in Ottawa. That's why it's always good to just wait for the correspondence that tells you the address to send it to. Overall, I think an email should solve your issue.
