Hi all Octoberites!!
My friend (who went through this process last year) told me about this forum.
It is such a stressful situation waiting for news or info from CIC, nice to know we are not alone.

My Canadian wife is sponsoring me, we have been together for 7 years & I lived temporarily in Canada in the past.

Anyway, we applied on October 7th and we are doing this without any previous knowledge of the immigration process and without outside help.

I'm sure I will be talking to many of you over the coming weeks, I look forward to getting to know you all.

I would also like to ask a quick question for now -does CIC literally send out NO confirmation of having received our application until Stage 1 (sponsor eligibility) has been processed? We have received nothing since we applied and like I said we are new to this process. I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that this is normal. I see that some people who applied on October 3rd have received emails, was this the first contact made by CIC?

Hi everyone great news for me today! I have just received confirmation via email from CIC that "You have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly, the Application for Permanent Residence for your relative(s) has been forwarded to a visa office abroad for further processing" This is the best Christmas present!

Current Time-line:
Application sent: October 6 2011
Application Received at CIC on October 07 2011 (confirmation via Canada Post)
Confirmation email from CIC of application received: December 13 2011
Approval email from CIC: December 14 2011

You don`t have to worry about that, they usually do not send any confirmation about receiving until they actually approve, only few of us received email that they received it .

congrats.. from the way its working im going to get mine by 3rd or last week of december or even 1st week of January they received mine on 17th of October.
