hi. my husband sponsored me. we hired an immigrant consultant. he said, ontario received our application package last oct. 3rd. just that...no Client ID number given, nothing...just that. Im a filipina, my husband who sponsored me is canadian. My cousin and her family, who are all filipinos..got the approval of their application after 2 months, I thought spousal sponsorship is the fastest? We really havent heard any development regarding our papers. SO WHATS NEXT? What shall we expect...im blinded. hehe. My husband said, he will apply for a visitors visa for me while waiting for the approval of spousal sponsorship. Whats the chances of approval/ rejection? Any idea? Please help... :)

Hi Pinaynurse1! we have the same situation. i am married to a Canadian too. I applied for 6 months visitor visa but they gave me one year instead. Dont actually know why. But anyhow, i am happy. my husband is really happy too I am not going anywhere coz my visa permit says NOT ALLOWED FOR RE ENTRY. i am here in Canada as worker and applied for visitor visa for dual intent that i have immigration application in process.

You can try to apply for visitor visa if you really want. I applied online last month October 22, 2011 and got approved November 16, 2011. But you know if you can wait for the PR maybe its the best way to do. because i've heard they made out land spousal sponsorship faster than inland because of the burden of the couple being separated to each other.

VO-manila for my office than you

Hello kaloka. Did you apply for your visit visa after the application for immigration or before?

I just saw the update. Down to 66 days! I hope we all get responses soon, just in time for a nice Christmas present.

Forum members what are your plans for the holidays?

Cheers!

In two weeks me and my wife are going to meet in India and spend a month together there:) :P

hello pinaynurse,

If the application was received on the 3rd oct, you're going to have to wait 67 days till you get your approval of Step-1. (Expect something by mid-december. if not then, early jan cuz of the holidays). When step-1 is complete, you'll get your Client ID and your file will be transferred to your Visa Office, which for you I'm guessing is Manila. The processing times there are 10 months on average (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp)

So for now just sit back, relax and hope for the best :)

I'm not really sure you can go on a visit visa while your immigration application is in process. I haven't heard any success stories there.

Hi there.....In regards to Visiting Canada while your application is in process.....from what I have heard in the Buffalo thread for outland applications....once you have your sponsorship approval you can cross the border stating that you are going to stay with your spouse for a visit...they will give you a six month visitors visa....also....with that visitor visa you can get healthcare (i know for BC and ON). I was under the impression that it was not possible either and was shocked to find that the immigration office actually suggests it.....you do need to show that you have some funds to support your self and also proof of ties to return to your country after the visit.....as well..you will obviously not be able to work or study......oh and you also need to have your receipt of payment for the application fees.

you should look into this further....
