End of the line for me today with a beautiful oath ceremony presided over by Judge Rochelle Ivri at IRCC - Mississauga. There were a 100 people in the room from 26 different countries, who all became Canadian citizens today. Feels great to be part of a Country with such diversity and strong, accommodating core values. For instance, I was recently reading an article on the news about how a couple in the Swiss were denied Citizenship because they refused to shake some officials hand due to their faith. That does not happen in Canada. We were advised to just place our hands on our hearts if we did not wish to shake hands for whatever reason, medical or religious.

All the best to those that are still waiting! Hoping for a speedy processing going forward.

On a side note, I believe the diversity (100 people from 26 different countries) at the ceremony could be the reason why some of the applicants get their oath invites sooner than others.

HLR:

Can you correct the DM dates for myself and Sooperdice? You wrote year 0208 instead of 2018.
We are at line 644 and 645 in case you wondered where is it.

Someone already fixed it, thanks for pointing out the mistake.

Congrats!!! As we predicted, it’s all done by August for us.

One of the most important words I heard during the ceremony were “welcome home!” by the PM. Canada is now “home”. We’re no longer “permanent” visitors (residents).

Thanks! Canada was always my home for the past 12 years, just that now it's official.

Final update regarding my application:

I had my citizenship ceremony on Aug 20th which went pretty smoothly. They specifically told us to apply for the passport after 2 business day excluding the one we had the ceremony on. Ecas changed to complete on the next day.

Passport application:

I applied to passport today at passport office at Toronto Downtown location. I went there around 12:50ish, and was out around 1:10. The agent also told me to that it should take 10 business day to receive it in courier. They made a call to my guarantor around 2:00. Asked him about my physical appearance and what I do.

Looks like my journey here comes to an end.

Good luck to all.
