Yes but you can only return to Canada with a valid Canadian passport - this applies to all Canadain Citizens. Basically, don't leave without a Canadian passport.
Do you know if we are allowed to get an express passport? Or is this option only for renewals?

Just called the call centre, to get more details on my application(other than that it’s in proces), because when I called last time, my residence check was not done. However the agent was really impatient and assumed that I was calling to complain about processing time, which was not the case! I only called to get more information on my own application (that I am legally entitled to ??). She refused to answer my question about what checks are still not done , told me contradictory information and asked me to not call again. Can I complain to IRCC? Would they even care?
To be honest, this is even more depressing than an indefinite long wait, and I am just shocked that they treat people this way at IRCC. :(

This sentiment is really starting to become a trigger for me. Oh, no, wait... it already has. What evidence do you have to make such an assertion that IRCC is specifically targeting Iranians for the purpose of making their lives miserable in the citizenship process?

I can vouch for it. I am Iranian and it's 2.5 month past from my test date and still no DM. I have 3 Iranian friends who applied at the same time with me, 2 of them have not received test invite yet and the other one is in the same boat as me (for 2 months). So I believe to some extent he/she is right.

That you're legally entitled doesn't mean you need to call. They expressly tell you in the recording that if you're within 12 months you should basically hang up. You can order your notes and see progress that way. Order them every month if you want. You'll likely get better information than they will give you.

Statistically Significant Sample Size?... Just saying for some people drawing crazy conclusions...

No, because everyone constantly calling is what's eating up resources. Unless it's been greater than 12 months, you have no reason to be calling to inquire about this stuff.

A delay in background checks, which aren't actually conducted by IRCC, isn't proof of this at all.

I believe you can apply two days after the ceremony. Certain passport offices offer same day processing - but you'll need to find one that does it and pay a premium.

If you read my post, I did not say anything about who is conducting what. I just mentioned to some extent he is right. I do not see if I mentioned it is a proof or not.

Guess I am just stupid, and stupid enough that I did not get their hint from the recording. In the hindsight ,being the the 12 month wait time does not mean I can not call them for for info? What if someone can not read? what if someone does not have access to technology thats needed to apply for ATIP notes.

You said he is right. He said a certain group of people are being targeted by IRCC. I stated that that can't be as the background checks aren't actually conducted by IRCC. So I'm not sure what your point is here - I'm perfectly aware of what you said - I'm just pointing out that it isn't correct.

No. It means you wait. Expect your application to take 12 months. If you expect it, you won't constantly bug them for updates. They don't need to give you further info. When they are ready to give you something, or need something, they'll contact you. Until then - you need to wait.

No, you are not aware what I said since you can't distinguish the difference between "he is right" and "to some extent he is right". It's pointless to discuss it anymore with you.
Have a great day!

I have no problem with waiting, I think you might have missed my point. The agent provided contradictory info(that i know is clearly false), and this was in addition to the fact that she was also being quite impatient during the call. In fact, I am totally fine with the 12 months wait, and simply wanted to know more about my own application, and myself! guess i am not allowed to.

If you can post here, you can get ATIP. If you can’t read, you can still understand and follow instructions from the message.
