Could any of the admins please update the sheet? My DM came on October the 3rd. (Test was on the 28th)
My immigration officer said the oath would be in 2-3 months but a friend who had an interview before me and one after me were both told that their oaths would be in November. Thanks

2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on December 8, 2017.
3. We started processing your application on January 18, 2018.
4. We sent you a notice on March 21, 2018 to appear and write the citizenship test on April 10, 2018 at 9:00 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.
5. We sent you a notice on August 10, 2018 to appear and write the citizenship test on September 7, 2018 at 8:20 AM. The notice you will receive by mail will be your official confirmation of your appointment. If you have not received this notice prior to the date of your scheduled appointment, please contact us.
6. We sent you a notice on September 28, 2018 to appear and take the oath of citizenship at the citizenship ceremony to be held on October 12, 2018 at 9:00 AM. I took oath on Oct 12 and now a Canadian Citizen. Did anything change? Yeah, the journey is finally over and the clock has stopped ticking. From Study Visa, to Study Permit Extension to Post Grad Work Permit to SINP Nomination to Extended Work Permit to PR to Canadian Citizen. However, I will be back next year for my spouse.

I think I owe Canadavisa forum and its members plenty of thanks. I have always been a silent member. I have learned a lot from the good and bad experiences that people have shared. Personally, I am a very laidback, however, when it comes to CIC never ever underestimate it.

Btw, I have always been an anxious one as my application was always delayed or was processed at the other end of the spectrum. I sent my application on Oct 12 last year so my application completed an entire year. The same happened during my PR application. So my best advice is to follow the processing time. Don't waste your time calling CIC beforehand they rarely help, unless there is an emergency. I did that a lot during my PR application but it never helped. If you are optimistic that your Citizenship application will be processed in 6 mths, 8 mths, etc. It is your fault, not CIC for being over-optimistic. I have seen the same during my spouse's application and many of my friends.

For those who are planning to delay their Citizenship, my best advice is that don't be stupid, all visas are revocable. It will only take one stupid mistake and you could end up being deported back to your home country. There are way too many benefits of Citizenship than going on a vacation or spending your time with your family, etc. All these things are important, however, if you can imagine your future beyond Canada then Canadian Citizenship matters less.

One of the most important clues I got for backing this point was yesterday when I gave away my PR Card before taking the oath. If anything went wrong during my Citizenship ceremony due to my past mistake, I would not get my PR back, it simply means that I will have to leave this country immediately. It sent shivers down my spine. So think wisely.

Don't worry, I will be back next August for my spouse's Citizenship Application.

Guys I have the test next week. Can someone tell me if they need US entry/exit. I have travelled twice to US for conference 2 weeks altoghter. I went to US border website and they gave me the last 5 years US entry? is it sufficient?

I'm still waiting for the test invite and next week it will be exactly one year. I think I figured CIC's system finally, they started processing applications from the buttom, so if you applied later you got your test and oath earlier, great job to CIC and good luck to us!

Thanks. Mom passed away and my father's health deteriorated, hence I had to extend my stay back home. I believe this is enough compelling reason to request a change in the exam. Remember, officers are also human and they do take into account such situations and try their best to process your application within the processing time. However, anything beyond this will give CIC an open hand and then processing time does not apply to your application so it can take forever. Yeah, you can talk to MP or get a lawyer but even they will ask you to wait till processing time is over or nearly complete.
