Test Location: Ottawa

Test was quite easy 20/20. Read the discover canada pdf twice and you should be pretty safe. Interview was pretty smooth. The interviewer asked me if i had any convictions. I just had one trip for 30 days and that was stamped in the passport. She said ill get an oath invite via email. Now just the wait for the oath.

I have emailed CIC Edmonton to move my oath taking on the last 2 weeks of May. Unfortunately I have to travel because of a death in my family. I was due for oath taking this coming May 1. Even if I attend the oath taking, the passport processing will take at least 4 business days from the oath taking date.

Admin, I will update once I hear from CIC Edmonton.

It is nice to see that people are getting oath invitation letter but for me despite application was delivered on Oct 13 but still is in process. No test invite yet.

So to know the update called cic, the rep said you background check has not been started yet and security and criminality is in progress and your residency requirement needs to be assessed as well. Hope you get the test invitation soon and average time to complete the process is 1 year.

My question is despite RCMP sent the finger print to cic on March 12, 2018 is it normal for them not to clear criminality as the rep already acknowledged the fingerprint has already been received. Is it normal that the background check has not been started even after 6.5 month after applying? Does people get test call before background check is completed?

Email is sent for Acknowledgement of Receipt.
There is no email for being In Process

Is it normal that the background check has not been started even after 6.5 month after applying? Does people get test call before background check is completed?

For info I am an Montreal applicant.

Other members have reported receiving test invites despite the background checks being still underway, however the status will only change to "Decision Made" after all checks have been completed.

I don't know why they could've not started your background checks yet, but anyway ..there's not much you can do other that wait for a test invite/or a request for more info. Some have ordered GCMS notes, but i don't know if that's useful either.

I just received email for test invite! Finally!! Test will be on May 17th.

IP since Dec.11th. I sent my application to Mississauga but the test location will be in Scarborough.
