This has been discussed multiple time. Personally, I answered it "No" and in my explanation letter I mentioned that this form doesn't apply to me as I am not claiming any days into my residency while living outside Canada. Do more research on this one in the other threads.I have a query about Question 9c in the new updated citizenship application form.
9c During your eligibility period, did you live outside Canada?
I visited India and stayed there for 605 days in total during my eligibility period. Do I answer Yes or No to this question? Answering Yes requires me to Fill Form CIT 0177 which is only for people living outside as crown servant, or with a spouse. None of these two situations apply to me and I have enough days above the required number to be eligible already.
Please Advise.

It doesn’t matter if you’re claiming. IRCC is asking if you’ve lived outside of Canada in the last 5 years. If you have, the answer is yes. This isn’t a complex question or something that needs to be interpreted, it’s quite simple!who is gonna be the lucky with ID 200? lol

I would agree, it is not asking about intent - it is asking whether you resided elsewhere during that period outside of vacation or business trips. No interpretation. It doesn’t matter if you’re claiming. IRCC is asking if you’ve lived outside of Canada in the last 5 years. If you have, the answer is yes.
