I am unable to reach BLS since last couple of days. No replies to emails as well. Anyone received OCI in last 2 months

Called them a few days ago. they are accepting walk ins for surrender/OCI at the walk in branches.
Postal applications are also being processed.

I asked them that too and he said 5-6 weeks for OCI. Seems like the same as before the virus.

Can anybody please shine some light on the necessity of having Canadian passport for OCI application and Indian passport renunciation? I cannot apply for a passport as passport offices are closed but I have the citizenship certificate in hand. TIA

For OCI , they need to enter your Canada Passport no. in your OCI booklet.

The checklist for renunciation states that if you don't have a foreign passport at the time of applying, you must write a declaration with a reason. You can go ahead and renounce but will have to wait for the passport to apply for an OCI.

Don't be without a passport at any time. If you keep your Indian Passport and haven't got your Canadian passport. And you need to travel urgently , Indian passport can be used for 3 months ( grace period) and even more if you can pay penalty later.

Received OCI card for myself and my child today. our timelines are as follows:

Date Of Acknowledgment: 04-AUG-2020
Registration Status at Mission: TORONTO
Documents Printing Status PROCESSED On 25-AUG-2020
Dispatched From MEA (OCI ) NEW DELHI On 25-AUG-2020
Document received At TORONTO On 25-AUG-2020
