I don't specifically remember how long it took for status change, but I guess you should give it some more time. Check status in both Indian Govt website as well as BLS website in a week's time. The BLS people would have checked your docs, and I guess everything should be in order. Be patient, as you would have known by now- anything to do with BLS/Indian Consulate will take a bit of time. Good luck!
Well today checked the BLS site and status changed to processing at consulate . Will monitor daily since I have not availed their useless courier package.
The day I see the docs return to BLS status will have to go there by 3pm and collect the same. No probs its just a 8 minute drive for me.
WOLFPACK you are the ALPHA of this thread.:D

I applied for both surrender and OCI. Had to resubmit my OCI due to some errors on the application form (I only had to resend the applications)
Location : Brampton.
Type : Postal (Pickup and drop)

Surrender
12 Mar - Picked up by Purolator
13 Mar - received
14 Mar - On way to consulate
From 18 Mar - Started processing at consulate

OCI
2 Mar - Picked up by Purolator
14 Mar - Issue with Forms
19 Mar - Received new forms at BLS
20 Mar - On the way to the consulate from BLS

So far it has been great on timings. I think BLS is getting better at their process and communication.

I'm wondering if I should send both together or do one at a time. Also thinking of doing pickup/drop. Thanks for sharing your timeline.

Just to edit the original post both applications picked up on same day.

Its easier to send the application in one go (save on pick up charges. Delivery charges remains the same) + You need to send the originals only once

Congrats- You are almost there now. You are lucky that it's just a 8 min drive for you. (I would have opted for pick up too had BLS been so close for me). This thread as well as other threads have helped me so much during my PR, Citizenship and OCI process- I am just happy to contribute and help others just like I've benefited in the past. Good luck for getting your OCI soon!

@olivec I completely agree with this advise. Try to finish it in one go.

If possible, try to submit it at BLS instead of courier pickup (because if there's any issue with the application form, it could be remedied on the spot without any back and forth delays. Be sure to take 2 copies of all docs. (just to be extra cautious). Good luck!

A couple of questions regarding the requirements for an OCI and the surrender certificate in regards to a mailed-in application:

a. Is self-attestation required for the documents that have been photocopied ?

b. Do we have to submit the original naturalization certificate AND the Canadian Passport along with the Indian Passport ?

Thanks! yes its better to get it done with. I believe you need to upload or take a copy of ppt that has been cancelled. Will they take care of that?

Hi this is what I read on the check list
- all photo copies have to be attested " this is a true copy of the original" sign and date
- Indian ppt is copy and original. Canadian ppt is only copy
-Originals are Citizenship Certificate and Landing Papers

Thanks! will do

@wolfpack27616 how do you get the acknowledgement for OCI - is it by email ? I am wondering when I can start tracking it online on the OCI website.

Question regarding a postal application for the surrender certificate and OCI (Vancouver consulate):
According to both checklists, there is no need to submit original Canadian citizenship certificate and original Canadian passport, only photocopies of those. Can someone who applied to Vancouver please confirm that?
