You can write your own letter addressed to high commission/consulate saying I am a housewife.

When I went to BLS Ottawa my letter from employee was just an auto generated one liner saying I am working at this designation from so and so date.
The lady at the counter gave me a printed form where she told me to write my job description in some detail.

So if you going in-person, they might not need a letter or may accept the one your wrote or just ask you to write one in there prescribed form.

Like you, I don't want to talk about politics here, I am not the one to say who is right or wrong. if there is any diplomatic problem deal with it diplomatically, and do not let suffer common people Beyond politics, contrast the ways in which two nations assist and care for their citizens in these and many other circumstances. Whether you are an immigrant or a Canadian, they never leave you in the dark and will always help you out if you get into problems, we saw it during Covid time and inflation.

Because of our socalled leaders, we should be prepared for any unforeseen event there. What is this ban's benefit( and many bans)? As I stated, it's just another careless choice that will cause us to suffer.

Nobody can tell you how to save money and time; everyone's position is unique, and these kinds of rash decisions place a burden on others. At the very least, we NRIs send millions of dollars in remittances each year, and yet we are treated as if we are garbage. People are planning to celebrate their festival in back home, some are just waiting for their newborn's visa.

I made it a point to send my application by Canada post, and included a pre paid envelope. I had to call them a few times for them to open that envelope when it was yet to be processed, and after they received the cancellation letter, I had to call them a few times to post that canada post pre paid pre addressed envelope. I saved probably 35 dollars as a difference on mailing fee. But the time I spent on calls during working hours was worth more than that. My application would have processed atleast 1 week earlier and I would have received my letter atleast 14 days earlier had I opted for Purolator


while sending the OCI packet, I sent byCanada post but included money in the MO for BLS for them to sendback by purolator.



I know its a scam and they do not prioritize canada post envelopes unless nudged again and again on phone for that .

It means BLS is yet to go through your application. Wait for an "application date" to appear on BLS site or status to change to processing at consulate.

20+ days for acknowledgement on OCI website
30 days after the acknowledgement expect to receive the OCI in your hand
