Hi everyone,

This is my first post regarding OCI application. Below are the details so far:

Submission type: Postal application
Oct 12 - Application picked up by Purolator
Oct 13 - Application delivered to BLS
Oct 17 - Acknowledgement email received from BLS

Date	BLS website status	OCI Website status
Oct 17	acknowledgement message	no such record found
Oct 21	under process, reference no provided	no such record found
Oct 25	processing at consulate general	no such record found

I believe it will take 3 weeks ish before I see any update on the OCI Website or regarding my application.
I will share an update once available.

Hi Guys,
I just got my surrender certificate and wanted to apply for OCI. The checklist says I need to send Original Canadian Passport ( as I am opting for Purolator services, no appointments for a few months ).
Question 1 : Do I really need to send in the original ?
Question 2: How long will it take for the whole process as I need to go to India in February.

I didn't submit any orginals with my application. I did a postal application. It took one month from the day of pick up for acknowledgement status on OCI website. I believe it will take atleast 3-4 weeks more.

What would be the chance to get the OCT before Dec 20th? I have a travel plan on Jan 2nd.

Or should I apply for a tourist visitor visa? Will it be quicker than OCI? please advise.

Anyone is waiting or waited for their OCI for more than 10 weeks? I applied at BLS in Brampton on Aug 31 and still waiting. I applied for me and my daughter, who got her OCI 4 weeks ago. Date of acknowledgment is Sep 23, the status is under process in Toronto. Tried calling consulate but no-one is picking up, BLS cannot give any more info, just saying it is under process. I am worried since we want to go to India in December.

Do you get email notifications ? I have no emails regarding status updates or acknowledgment. I just inquire occasionally. My OCI website DOA is 8 November so how long till I see processed ?

You would not get any emails. Please keep checking the trackers.

10 weeks is not normal. Max 6 weeks.

Sure. The reason I asked many people have posted here about them receiving email about status notification unless it is auto generated no one is going to sit and send out 1000s of them everyday. Thx

Folks, What is the next visible step after "(Counter Delivery to BLS Centre after OCI stamping)" in BLS website and how long does it take for delivery? Should I call BLS ? My ticket is on Nov 29th, any chance of receiving the OCI card before that ?

7 to 10 days.

will they update on BLS website that it has been shipped through Purolator? I have applied via Purolator and opted to return it via Purolator. My current status on BLS site is counter-delivery to BLS after OCI stamping. Dose changed or will it stay the same?

Once you see "Passport ready For Dispatch after OCI stamping" on BLS tracker then you track on Purolator as well using the CANT* tracking number.

Hi Everyone,

This is my first time on this forum and I landed here looking for a specific answer, which I unfortunately couldn't find clearly in the discussion (I couldn't read all pages but I read at least 20-30 recent pages).

I recently applied for my twin boys' OCI card. I opted for Postal Application and sent them original Canadian passport and birth certificates for my children. I also paid for 3 courier fees (1 each for pick up and drop off, and one additional for original document drop off). Reading this forums, it seems that you *do not* need to send original passport/birth certificate. Is my understanding right?

If above is true, and since I have already sent the original documents, is there something I should do to get the original back at all? Or do they generally send those originals once processed? Does anyone have experience with this? (I feel like I should have read this forum before submitting applications!)

Finally, the question that landed me here - How long does BLS/high commission take to return the originals? The BLS website shows application date as of Oct 31, 2022 and shows current status as processing at the consulate. I don't really care how long OCI process takes, but we have a trip to Mexico coming up in exactly one month and its imperative that the kids' original passports come back before that. Any DPs on this topic from those who had sent original documents will be greatly appreciated.
