OCI process

Hi All,

I did a walk-in OCI application for my family (individual applications for three of us) on 23rd of July at BLS Toronto. My and wife's applications are showing up on the OCI website with AOR of the 3rd Aug (in fact, we have received our original docs back as well). But my son's application is still not showing up on the OCI website (stating "No Record Found") and BLS tracking is saying "Processing at Consulate".

My question is- Is this normal as I have applied for all three of us at the same date/time? I am travelling in the end of Sept, so can't afford much delay.
Is there someone I can write or call to check? Because BLS is saying it's processing at the Consulate, so they can't do anything.

I submitted my OCI in Toronto on Aug 4, what I saw is the clerk at the desk sealed my Indian passport in there own internal envelope. From that what I can make out that, all applications are packed separately with there associated passports when sent to CGI. I asked many questions on the desk I also came to know that physical copy of our application goes to Delhi India via courier for them to process, Toronto CGI just checks the documents & cancelled passport and forward the paper application to Delhi and return our cancelled passport within Canada.

Therefore to answer you in your scenario maybe your child's envelope is not looked at yet, hopefully you will see his/her status too next week..in my case since I applied Aug 4 OCI enquiry still does not show anything, only BLS site has a message "Processing at CGI", when CGI completes the check they will return us the cancelled passport, forward our physical application to Delhi High Commission and updates the OCI tracker with Acknowledgent--- all these steps are taken at once.

Yesterday I have applied OCI application for me and my family in BLS Brampton via walk-in. They verified all my original docs including Indian Cancelled passports and returned all back to me in the counter itself. They didn't took any original passport or docs from me. I am not sure why they took Indian cancelled passport (in orginal) from you. Even for one of my friend the same behaviour they never took any orginal and that person got OCI.

Have they charged separately for Purolator service for returning original documents? Like $30 for returning original documents & $30 for OCI?

For me they didn't take any original doc. They just verified all in counter.

Yes, that is why I am asking about double charges from @FMCAD . I suspect it's just excuse to extort more money from us by some centers (BLS-Toronto I'm his case). Seems it centre is using different method to fulfill its target of extortion.

Yes in total they charged me $68 and some change on top of the money draft of CGI $345. I insisted Pickup but they declined

Yes my application submission was in Toronto- Lawrence location, Brampton is far away for me to travel, this Lawrence location is bullshit location, walk ins are lining up from midnight 11pm-12am onwards and hardly 6-10 from the walk ins are allowed in by 1.30pm ( they lock the door) security person is very rude to people., and there is a Baskin Robbin ice cream store next to this center which is run by a Chinese, we all Indians have to lineup in front of his store, with the current India- China border conflict, he gets angry and comes out and shout on people to move away from his main door.. there is no other side or way to lineup, that's the one an only option, the B&R store owner also posted a sign on his door "No Washroom use is allowed & Take away only", he doesn't like Indians to use his washroom but he supports the idea of Chinese troops sitting 1000Kms inside Indian border. I see many elderly women , young girls and married women lining up from midnight onwards, they can't even sit and have to stand long hours, women have there own women problems.... atleast men can walk here and there to Pee but its difficult for women to hold for such long hours, office opens at 8am but walkins are not allowed bcz appointments people will come over and walk in straight....so walk ins remain outside till 12PM without food, without washroom..its very very hard...i have to lineup 4 different times from SC process to OCI...this is bullshit iam fed up now,,, plus they are not allowing pickups and Purolator business pricing to them is just $5 per package...we cant do anything about it because they dont care, nothing to do

No, all originals including Cancelled India passport have been returned back to me. Same for my friend also.

I am filling OCI application for my family and myself. Do I need to create a separate account for every individual on https://ociservices.gov.in/ or i can file a joint application for my wife, child, and myself in one account?

You will have to check status on BLS website now.

Hi There,
So on the BLS website it just show the previous message saying "Original documents Dispatched via courier Dispatched via Courier". This message was displayed when they return my original Indian passport. After that No update. I did walk-in application and did paid fees. but do you think I need to pay any additional fees?

After talking to BLS call center agent, he told me My OCI is Still at Consulate general and they (BLS) Haven't received it yet!. Does any one in the same boat that after 5 business days your Document are still at consulate general? Is there any way I can reach out to consulate general?

I am in a process to apply for OCI. There is one item on the checklist that says "Professional Details of the applicant " - What should I put here? Is it company offer letter or what? Also what do they verify at BLS if I am planning to Walk-in?

Hello Everyone - I just completed an OCI application and was presented with a bunch of documents to be uploaded, most of which didn't apply to me. Can I just take all the documents from the BLS checklist and OCI application?

Also, the appointments for OCI are not available in August at the Brampton location. Can I book an appointment under Visa or passport and move forward?
