That’s so ridiculously wrong, on the website checklist they are mentioning both originals and copy and originals will be returned in 10-12 days

I know for walk in applications they just see and return originals on the spot but postal ones do require originals atleast in the past when I sent my other2 family members OCI applications I remember I sent originals in postal application.

Do not stress. Just send copies with OCI.
It’s how things work. On paper and on ground are different. Just finish application with copies and start 2-3 month waiting period.

I know website and checklist clearly mentions original. But customer service clearly mentioned several times original is NOT expected for postal application. Why take the risk of sending originals if they are saying its not needed. Sending things they dont expect is risky in my opinion.

Never seen a single instance on forum where-in a postal application was returned due to non-submission of originals.

DO NOT send your originals, let them return your application (if at all) rather than risking your original documents.

I sent my application by Purolator about 3 weeks ago. I still have not received any acknowledgement from BLS. I called them a couple of times and the person on the phone told me that I should expect a couple weeks of delay on top of the normal processing time. I lose sleep thinking that my original documents are with the BLS guys.

I am so glad to hear that you got back the originals. The Ottawa jurisdiction is very very slow. Kinds sucks, especially given that the High Commissions Office is here in Ottawa.

No need to send any originals including cancelled passport.

And for folks so reliant on Checklist - if you go back like tons of pages on this forum, you will find out that the checklist on its own is unreliable and was even contradictory in the past. So always have the practice of co-relating the checklist with the call center, and if still in doubt, then check the forum.

I wish I had read this before. In my case, my original documents are already at BLS. No updates on their website and their call center people put me on hold for over 40 minutes each time I call. It is so sickening to deal with these government babus.

yes i sent no originals including the cancelled indian passport. Puralotor picked up my package today morning. Not going to think about OCI for at least a month

So, the only things you upload are Canadian Passport copy, Indian passport copy with surrender certificate, Employment letter and thats it right?
