OCI process

I am a layman here and wish your experts help to obtain OCI for my mother who wish to visit India for six months in November/December - 2019.

I would like to know that how to obtain passport cancellation certificate ? Kindly explain in step by step with payment of its fees. How long it takes time to receive this cancellation certificate?

After obtaining passport cancellation certificate what is the procedure to apply for OCI ? Please help.

As per the Tracking on OCI services website, my OCI reached Toronto Consulate on 12 July, 2019.

BLS tracking showed yesterday (15 July) :

"Original documents dispatched via courier
(Counter Delivery to BLS center after OCI stamping)"

(The first line above was already there with the old tracking no since they sent back my COPR last month. Only the second line in brackets added yesterday)

Today morning, the status changed to :

"Original documents Delivered by Hand
(Passport ready For Dispatch after OCI stamping)"

No tracking number added yet. From many posts in this forum I see that many people got the OCI card by courier without any further status changes on BLS website.

My question is, did any one get another status update like "Dispatched..." along with a tracking number? It will help me to know whether I should be prepared for the courier man anytime or only after another status change and then tracking on Purolator like the case when they sent surrendered passports and landing papers.

Today morning I called BLS to confirm whether my OCI card was already dispatched or yet to be. When I told him about yesterday's status update on the website, the guy told me it will be dispatched only after 3 pm today.

But, at 12-30 pm today, the Purolator guy came and delivered the OCI ! And the BLS website still says "Ready for dispatch ..."

Below is my detailed timeline for reference of other applicants :

Surrender and OCI applied together (walk-in) at BLS Brampton : 07-June-2019

Surrender

Got surrender certificate and cancelled Indian passport by courier : 13-June-2019

OCI

Date of Acknowledgement : 20-June-2019
Received original COPR after verifying (by courier) : 24-June-2019
Document Printing : 12-July-2019
Dispatched from MEA (OCI) New Delhi : 12-July-2019
Document Received at Toronto : 12-July-2019
Received OCI booklet by courier : 17-July-2019

Total days for OCI from Application submission to delivery by courier : 40 days

Note: My oath was on 16-May-2019. So, two months from oath to OCI card.

I like to thanks all seniors for helping me through. Permanent resident to citizen then oci
I am member of this form since 2011

I apply for my oci and surrender of passport on 14 June and 25 June I revived my cancelled passport and certificate of surrender
13 July I recieved my oci booklet
It took not even month for three of us my wife , me and my newborn

I want to let you guys know I didn’t send any original document like copr or citizenship certificate. For oci. Notrized copy is sufficient
So good luck to every one

Status still shows under process.

Hello all,

I have a question regarding renunciation and OCI application. This question may have been answered earlier but couldn't find it in the thread.

I will be taking Oath on August 6th and wanted to check if we can apply for Indian Citizenship renunciation and OCI application without a Canadian passport?

Can we just use the landing document and Canada Citizenship Certificate for the application process?

How does the pick up process work?
Hello all, I received OCI pick instructions in mail earlier this month. It says I have to check the status online and arrange collection/pickup. But it doesn't say where to pick up.
Should I go back to the original BLS location where I submitted the application, to pickup my OCI?
How did it work for you guys?
Please advise.

I got my Canadian Passport with First Name: XXX(first name is mandatory so they put 3 x's) Last Name: ABC DEF( my whole name)
All my Canadian ID's have only Last Name: ABC DEF First Name: Empty
Indian Passport First Name: ABC DEF Last Name: Empty

1. While applying for OCI(I already got Indian Citizenship renunciation certificate without a Canadian passport) or Indian Visa any issues ?
2. Traveling with Canadian Passport any suggestions? like buy airline ticket same as passport name ?

I don't want to do legal name change, lengthy process and expensive too!
