OCI Application: How to provide marriage certificate if it is not in English?

Hi all,

I will soon be starting my OCI application from Toronto, Canada. I recently got married in Mexico, and so my marriage certificate is in Spanish. My questions are:

1. Do I even have to provide my marriage certificate? I was previously an Indian citizen.
2. If so, do I have to get it translated? Apostilled? Notarized? Do I have to bring the original with me as well to the BLS center? Does anybody have similar experience applying with non-English documents? What is the general process like?
3. In the Online Portal when filling up the OCI application, what document would I upload for the "marriage certificate"? Is it the Spanish or English (translated) version? Would it need to be apostilled as well? (I'm assuming that I would have to upload it in the online portal)

I think the worst case is that they would need to see these documents in person:

1. The original marriage certificate.
2. The apostille (stamp/document from Mexico), which could be attached to the original document above physically, or in a separate document.
3. Notarized photocopies of 1 & 2. This I guess is what BLS would accept as part of the application package since they can't take originals.
4. Translated version of 1 & 2 done by a certified translator. This would also be taken by BLS.

Which are a lot of documents, and a part of me wants to just go there in person and try my luck with whatever documents I have on hand and see what they say.

I called BLS and they said that apostille from Mexico and notarization from Ontario would be needed, however he did not sound too sure. When I asked him if translation was needed, he wasn't sure either.

From BLS resources online I found 2 checklists:

1. Do I even have to provide my marriage certificate? I was previously an Indian citizen. -> If your spouse name is in your Indian passport like I had, you need not give marriage certificate in that case.
