Thanks dear hmisabpk,
I have a clear Idea now....I guess after being issued a PR visa...I would wait some more time in my home country and try to attain academic credentialing and initiate process for my professional licensure (i may get it before my visa expiry if I am lucky)...And then finally decide to proceed to complete my landing !!

Thanks....just wanted to know if the above approach is right??

Yes, Junner...having a PR visa first will nullify any tourist visa after that. .....it is not a possibility. You will automatically be required to complete landing formalities as suggested by Qorax da and hmisbpk.

Wish you all the best for your exams.... :)

The "thinking" is right, however fate & destiny play otherwise, sometimes, with new immigrants.

To everyone:

We MUST be 'open' for survival jobs as a newcomer here - grab anything that comes by after 'landing', even if we were Astrophysicists in our homeland - unless we have moved with bags load of cash.

Else, we'd be 'waiting' for the unforeseen & pretty soon our settlement funds would dwindle - then discouragement set's in - depression too - & we'd be found blaming the system left-right-&-centre, while the onus was within.

Everyone in Canada has gone thru this rut [not that it should be this way - but that's how it is]. Everyone here came thru the same procedure - all had the 67 - & the IELTS - all r equally qualified/experienced... thus, if someone doesn't do the slogging tasks - who would? Remember, most CEOs here had done a Tim Horton's/Canadian Tire/Walmart/et all tasks before he came into that position.

There's no ego -- there's no point in having false ego/aspersions - we r new here - no one knows us - no one understands our worth - no one would know what capabilities we possess - it's only thru time that we'd set our benchmarks - prove ourselves - & then success would surely beckon - the future is in our hands.

North America is an epitome of Capitalism -- business do not care about who we r - there's no welfare doling out in business - the employer's only interest is in its success/growth - why would he recruit someone whose worth/credentials he is unaware of? And then he could find his requisite 'worker' in the Canadian born's itself. Whom he could do a through b/ground check, easily. Then why should he take undue interest in us, the new immigrants?

I'm yet to see a guy, who in 3yr's time, hasn't done fairly well. And in 5yr's time didn't do pretty well. While in 10 yr's time didn't ROCK!

It's all in the slog... the way u prove yourself... and time plays a nice trick - to see us thru.

Keep your homeland's possessions viz. sedan cars, pin-stripe suits, oxford shoes, silk ties, Macbooks, iPhones, Cool Waters etc. out of your head... unless they were Mercedes ML450s, Armani tuxedos, Gucci balmorals, Versace cravats, Luvaglio ultrabook, Nokia N9s/Vertus, EAU D'hadrien et all -- in which case u wouldn't have moved here in the first place; and even if u did - u r untouchable already!

For the lesser mortals... 'Land' & get that job that comes along... let it bring food to your table w/out making a huge dent on the dough u brought in. Remember it's quite tough to get that even!

All the best.

Thank you very much Captian Qorax, Wayne, hmisabpk and mitali ji...your inputs are highly appreciated and after reading your replies, all the doubts and confusions in my mind have been erased....
As captain Qorax rightly said....I am now mentally prepared to take up any job that comes my way immediately after landing....but I am Just tempted to ask here a very ironical question (thats the reason I was thinking that I should not do the slogging/survival jobs initially) :-
Do you think a minimum wage of $10.5 an hour is appropriate enough to support (in initial 3 months) all the monthly expenses of a family of 3 (myself & wife who would not be able to work owing to care of a 10 month old baby) ????

The above question torments me a lot and creates self doubt at times....about the rest...I feel confident of my approach...

Thanks once again for precious advise..

Sir,

As we have time-n-again said, "it is not enough" - however it does reduce the 'dent' on your brought-in funds - makes it stretch longer. Besides, isn't it better to 'earn' asap than waiting for an opportunity, which might not come soon?

Once again -- everybody has done that way here... if they were sensible that is. Besides, that commences your 'all-important' Canadian experience! Which'd make u fare better in your next job.

Hi, JUNER2011,
I will say same thing as qorax mentioned that all went through the same.
However, you shouldn’t limit yourself within $10.50 per hour, sky is not limited for hardworking people and you may try to get $13-15 per hour survival job, call center job, office administration assistant, by the way you can work even as Physio Tech assistant till you get license. You may work in 2 - 3 different places, jobs or you may do your own small business, whatever you like you can there is not limit or no restriction.
The minimum wage $10.5, this is only to make sure that employer with general labour will not cheat or pay less than the government’s defined minimum wage in the provinces.

Hope that helps,

hmisabpk

Yep...
Juner dude...KEY always is to keep things SIMPLE.

Get PR...Go to Canada...Activate and get PR Cards/SIN...Move back to your First home...

You NOW have 3 years to clear exams etc...THREE YEARS Man!! ::)

If you are unable to clear exam or dont feel like moving on...Go to Canada and choose alternate Path/Education.... OR Kill PR [not recommended though]...

Quit over thinking my man ;D

Thank you very much sir,
I dont want to slog out (survival jobs) without a licence to practice physiotherapy...(instead want to complete academic credentialing and professional licensure from home country itself during the time available to land----> is it the right thinking Qorax bro???

JUNER 2011
Unless you qualifications are recognized in Canada, you still will have to do some upgrading and additional training in Canada. Look at the Federal and Provincial Physio association to determine what upgrades you will need.
