Why will citizenship be easier to lose?
The new law divides Canadians into two classes of citizens: first class Canadians who hold no other citizenship, and second class Canadians – dual citizens, who can have their right to live in Canada taken away from them. Even if you are born in Canada, you are at risk of losing citizenship if you have dual citizenship or the possibility of dual citizenship. You may not even know that you possess another citizenship. If you have a spouse, parent, or grandparent who is a citizen of another country, you may have a right to citizenship without ever having applied for it. The proposed law would put you at risk of losing your Canadian citizenship if the Minister asserts that you possess or could obtain another citizenship. The burden would be on you to prove otherwise to the Minister's satisfaction.

The new law will make it easier for the government to take away your citizenship.
It will be easier to lose IF you commit terrorism, treason, high treason or fraud in obtaining... so unless anyone falls under any of one or more category, nothing to worry. I don't understand whats the fuss about it... its all meant to weed out the bad people, and as a true Canadians we should appreciate it.

From my ATIP report, it shows that my application went to Mississauga office as this is my location, then after one year send to St. Clair office. I was invited by St.Clair office to take test/interview by jan 22,2014. it has been more than four months and no letter yet, the report shows that my file on april 1, 2014 transferred to scarborough office for further assessment.

Absolutely anyone involved in any crime, terrorism, espionage activities should absolutely be punished. However, anytime such laws are made where there is no recourse to the court of laws, they are open to abuse by authorities. There were cases where the overzealous security agencies / their moles trapped some innocent people due their personal enmities, for recognitions or be rewarded monetarily gains or with the citizenship. With this law everyone can be spying for other and easily will put others in trouble by false allegations.

Without access to the court of law, every other CIC employee can be Supreme Judge with authority to accuse & deport anyone. Its like providing gun to everyone in the society where even the innocent will not be safe as any crazy guy can abuse it.

If such laws are allowed, what's difference between the countries ruled by absolute dictators and democracies, where even the small dissent will wreck families. We support the government but let the court handle such laws and punish / spare the responsible individuals.

Dear All,

I have put the data for St. Clair (ONLY St. clair) test takers in the following spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Avwv2JB05vdtdGQ1eWZHenJncjE5dnZHak1MRVkxd2c&usp=drive_web#gid=2

If you want to help others, it will be helpful to put your complete timeline in the table and fill the missing items (Sooncanadian, latino, springtime, RQ2012, Samjohns22, and many others whose information is required (if they want to share and help others)).

Specially January and February test takers are kindly requested to update their situation and if someone is not interested any more to share, it would be helpful to inform us, to delete his/her name from the table. At least we will not see someone is waiting for oathing date, while he/she has already done the Oath ceremony, without updating the people in this forum.

Good luck to everyone.
Thanks indeed for your painstaking efforts to update records of all. If you can, please update my date of initial application submission date as 25th Feb'12. Once again, many thanks for been helpful to all. Have a wonderful evening and wish you the best of luck for Oath.

Bravepeople, thanks a lot for creating the database for St Clair test takers. It gives us a much-needed sense about how the oath process is moving. Honestly, without this information, our agony would be far worse.

I have noticed one thing. Before Feb the process was moving faster. People were receiving oath invitation in the same month of their test or the following month. I do not know what happened in mid-Feb. The oath invitation suddenly became slow. Now waiting for 3 or even 4 months is common. And this is happening everywhere - Hamilton, Ottawa, BC.

We have nothing to do but patiently wait. But I wonder what the reason for this slow movement is.

Yes, totally agree, everything should have an option to go to court. However the concerns you have mentioned applies more to third world countries where Govt. agency people abuse their power for own vested interest and motives. It is highly unlikely to happen in Canada (I hope) but yes I do agree that even if one person is unjustly stripped out of citizenship then it puts the whole law into question, so why leave any room for such to happen in the first place?

I haven't seen any updates on oath dates recently...
Its a bit strange because of the massive oath ceremonies on July 1st.
Any thoughts? I guess that those that haven't received any notice thus far will not be participating in July 1st ceremonies.
