So, I just got off the phone with the CIC call centre to ask if there had been any news. I wrote my test at St. Clair at the end of January and I was told, then, that it'd take 4-6 months for an oath date. I was told the same the last two times I called, but today he told me that my RQ (issued in October 2013) was still being processed and I shouldn't expect to hear anything until October 2015. During the test, I asked the agent explicitly whether my RQ had been fully processed and she said yes.

So:
Is the call centre agent talking out of his *** or was the agent during the test lying to me? Guesses?

I also called CIC today. The agent said that my test result (taken 19-Mar) is now showing up in the system. During the post-test interview, I was told that everything looks fine and I should expect an oath date in 2-4 months. But today the call center agent said since I received an RQ, I should wait until 2015 (36 months). I think this is just a standard answer.

Hi

I had my test on Feb 10 ( RQ, St clair)

I received a letter on Monday informing me that my file is in a queue to be assigned to a citizenship officer. They also updated my ECAS on Friday morning saying that they have sent me a letter which I received on Monday.

CIC said they sent me a letter as I requested an update on my file . But , I actually did not request anything .
I guess when I talked to the call center agent in April , he said he will send an email to st clair asking them for an update . so i believe CIC sent me a letter as per request by the call center.

well, It is kind of discouraging to see my file is to be referred to citizenship officer for further analysis of RQ ( in-depth assessment)

but the good news is that I got my ATIP this morning , it shows test passed and completed Plus NO judge herring is required . CIC decided NO hearing is required , but they still have to refer my file to citizenship officer .
well, my file is very clear and transparent , I have no idea what is hold them back from granting me a citizenship but i hope the officer who will be reviewing my file would approve my file .

the only thing bothers me is that I just graduated from university and I want to apply for public services but being a Canadian citizen is a must for most public or federal jobs.

Assuming that there are more citizenship officers than citizenship judges in Ontario, i think it wont take them long to assign an officer.
so No judge hearing required on my ATIP is keeping my hopes up ,

I pray & wait

Hi Freebird3000,
I have very similar experience.
I received a similar letter this week. In fact my Ecas states that a letter was sent on Jun XX, and it also mentions as if I need to send some information to CIC. That was confusing.
When I called up the call center, I was told that I don't need to send any information to CIC. Also, I was told that my RQ is now reviewed, and a decision for granting the citizenship has now been made. The call center agent was even able to let me know the date when the decision was made.
So now I am on the wait-list for being invited for ceremony.
Hope this makes you feel more at ease.
All the best.

RQ2012,

Congratulation . I am so happy to see your post .
It is good to know that assigning an officer is not talking a long time .

I have not called the call center in the last 3 weeks . I hope things gonna work out pretty soon

Thanks for sharing your experience . appreciate it

Hi Freebird, RQ2012

what do you mean that your file was assigned to an officer, I thought this step was done since the test/interview date. I was wondering if my case is similar to yours, when I called last week, the agent
told me that the Judge sent your application to the officer, but I was not sure what he meant.

I suppose the letter uses a 'standard template'. At interview with the CO after the test, the CO was very familiar with my RQ responses. In fact, she had mentioned to me that she was satisfied with my RQ response.

Hi Samjohns22,

I am not sure if my file has ever been referred to a judge since Feb 10 . but i got my ATIP today , it was updated in late April , and it shows judge hearing NOT required , and test completed . Maybe my file been referred to a judge , and the judge decided no hearing is required and returned it to the officer for the final decision . I honestly , dont know how CIC works.

Please order your ATIP .you can see what is happening with your file .

Lets pray and wait for the best .

Hi Freebird3000,
It might be a good idea for you to call up the CIC call center. They can provide you more definitive info such as whether your citizenship was granted and whether you are now on wait list for oath.

I was also told twice by CIC agents that the CJ has granted me citizenship on May26th and I am on waiting list for oath invitation (my file is at Scarborough after being processed at St.Claire office).Surprisingly, I was NEVER told by the agents that since I am an pre test RQ victim, I will have to wait longer . Infact they never mentioned to me once that I was given an Rq. Did you guys told the agent yourself about your RQ or they knew it already ? I am just curious. I am not sure when will I receive my invitation ..........

The agent knew about the RQ. In fact the agent said on her own that the "RQ is now reviewed and a decision is made. You will be granted the citizenship." But, she was not able to answer when I should expect an invitation for oath.
I suppose, once a positive decision is made, it should matter not at all that we were given pre-test (or even post-test) RQ. Logically, we should be on the 'conveyor belt' for the oath ceremony.

Hi RQ2012

I just called CIC . the agent mentioned about the letter they sent me last week , and said there is no final decision on my file .
So i will order a new ATIP on july 1st. hopefully , there will be some good news before i request for a new ATIP.

every time I get a negative response from CIC , it makes me feel down , frustrated , speechless .

I wouldn't have thinking too much about receiving the oath invitation IF my PR card was not expired. Now , I have plans for summer vacations and if I won't get my citizenship + Cad passport on time I won't be able to travel :(
