We as family appeared in citizenship test on Feb 11th, 2013. At the time we were told we should be expecting letter for Oath in 2 months time (If we pass the test). It's been over 6 months now we are still waiting for a letter. We called them, over the phone that lady checked our status and said that you guys have passed the test however we cannot give you exact date as to when should you expect to receive the letter and as per the current time frame it may take up to 35 months (Being Non Routine application) in total. Our case started in Jan 2012 when we got our application acceptance letter. If we consider 35 months in total we still have 15 months to go before we will get our citizenship. :D
Question: Should we contact our local MP if he can be of any help? did anyone adopted that route ever? did you get any success? I would like to discuss experiences of people before I contact my local MP. I live in Mississauga, ON

Your MP might be able to provide you with some extra info with regard to the cause of the delay but won't be able to push things forward..in all cases you won't lose anything and this won't affect your case negatively in any way so YES go ahead and call your MP and see why they are keeping you on hold fo all this time. What is your local office?! Did you receive RQ?! Is this a family application?! Best of luck!

There is no drawback to contacting your MP. It will not hurt you or your case to contact your MP. It's easy to do and it could help you.

It's important that our representatives (even if we are not citizens yet they are our reprentatives) know that the record citizenship delays are being noticed and that they're a problem.

Your MP may be able to give your more info on your file and let you know (which much more reliability than the call centre) whether anyone is scheduled to see a citizenship judge.

Get your GCMS files - maybe your clearances expired by the time an oath schedule was being reviewed. Speaking to the MP will not harm your cause so sure go ahead.

My personal experience - I went to the Ontario Minister of Immigration's office in Toronto to ask for assistance. They said they do not deal with federal matters of immigration, and that I should see my MP. I asked them where to go and they actually called the MPs office (we live in Halton) and made an appointment with the office on the same day. We made the trip to the reps office in Milton, they took notes about our case and told us to call back in a week. After that time we called back to be told there was not much they could do.

CIC got this angle covered - if your case is within quoted processing times then the MP can't really do much. The MP has little to gain from pushing this especially if they are part of the ruling party - it would be like saying the person in charge is failing in their job...however if you can do the 100m in 9.4 secs.......
