NZ Citizen and Passport Question

Hey,first post from me.

I am NZ citizen applying for my IEC work visa (just getting my documents sorted first)Apparently NZ can get a 2 year visa now,Correct?

My passport expires on the 6th of jan 2017 which is less than 2 years time from now or when i apply/enter Canada.

Do i need my passport renewed before i apply or before i enter Canada so i get the full 2 years or can i renew it while i'm if/there?

Does that make sense?

I think someone else recently posted they only got their work visa issued until the expiry date of their passport. Not sure if they would extend if you had to renew your passport after the fact.

I'd get a new one to be on the safe side if you can confirm it's going to be two year visas this year. Have fun
