Alright, so we submitted our application a month ago- no response.
After reading some other people's forums, some have gone to NYC and filled our an urgent application form.
Has anyone done this, and if so, what was the experience for you, and what did you do?

Yes, it worked for me. It should be beyond 30 days since the consulate recieved your appliacation post which if you go in person and fill in a urgent processing form. They will work on your Visa and give your passport the same day. you need to be in line by 8:00 AM.

Again, going by my experience yesterday, there were some cases where they just took the passport back without stamping, hence no clear policy here. We just have to try our luck by going there in person.
