Hi I'm Jasmyn, a registered nurse here in the Philippines.. I already have my immigrant visa for Canada and I also did my application for Registered practical Nurse to the College of Nurses of Ontario and I'm waiting for the requests for previous employment and Registration verification. I really hope that they will arrived before my departure date on April 21 this year to Toronto. I have no relatives there and I don't have a place to stay. Will it be a good idea if I apply as live in caregiver while I am still here. I was thinking it would lessen my burden during my first months there in Canada... But I do hope I can really land a job like that. If you know somebody there who's looking for a caregiver, please do recommend me...pretty please? I forgot the links to where I'm going to look for jobs in Toronto I really hope somebody could help and I'll start finding jobs? I know that it will be very hard living in Canada but it is my dream and I will do anything or any jobs if this is what it takes for me to survive.

Jasmyn:

Search "Kijiji" and "Toronto" and pull up the Kijiji website. Insert the search term"caregiver" or "nanny" or "apartment" to find jobs or a place to live. You might want to work or live in an area that is close to downtown or at least close to public transportation. To see public transportation go to the "ttc.ca" website. Many nanny jobs are live-in while others will only be during the day.

If there is nothing on Kijiji, then you can instead try "Craigslist" and "Toronto".

Happy New Year and good luck!

Joyfull

Hi all,

I am a RN living in Finland at the moment, did a 3,5 years education in nursing at university of applied science (bachelor degree).
I am about to start applying for the CRNE (but haven´t applied for PR yet since we are planning to get married before with
my Canadian boyfriend). As far as I understand, I may do the CRNE before I have PR but cannot get the registration until
I have a PR..? And I have heard that it may take up to over one year to get a reply from CNO and until I can do the test after
I have sent my application, anyone have any experience?

Since I have been working at an acute medical ward very self independently here in Finland, doing all the IV medicine etc myself,
I would not like to start as a RPN, and I would like to get a job similar to what I do in Finland..

As far as I have understood, there is a lack of qualified nurses in Canada..? And lots of jobs out there (Ontario/Toronto)..?
Correct me if I am wrong!

Hello Fellow Nurses!

Im from the Philippines. I just got my VISA and it will expire December 2012. I want to submit all the necessary application forms to CNO.

I have a problem with regards to the question in the form that says that I have to provide a "Proof Of Immigration".

What will I attach to prove this?

Is it a photocopy of the Visa affixed to my passport OR the form given to me which I will present to the PORT of ENTRY?

Thank you so much for your help.

i am a nurse in one of the hospitals in toronto, if an immigrant wants to become a nurse here they sure can...

they just have to have experience from their home country and then do some courses here...away you go, apply for a nurse position
