Myself and my common law parter want to emigrate to Ontario.

I am a computer programmer and have seen my job is on the list of jobs under code 2174. My other half is a nurse.

We are wanting to move from Scotland in 2015 after we get married. I have went throught the various websites, but i am really not sure what scheme I actually apply to.

On the eligibility questionaire, when I pick move it tells me I am eligible under the Canadian Experience Visa, and when I pick work it says International Experience.

Anybody help me what I am actually suppose to pick?

Also if I am successful in my application how long do I have to move to canada?

Sorry for all the questions but I am baffled here

"Move" means that you want to immigrate to Canada and become a permanent resident. "Work" means you want to work in Canada temporarily.

To qualify for the Canadian Experience Class immigration program either you or your wife must have at least one full year of skilled work experience in Canada. Have either of you worked in Canada before?

Hi

It seems I filled in the online form wrong.

I have never worked in Canada. I did live there as a child for 4 years before moving back to Ireland.

This whole process has completely baffled me and I'm not to sure how to go about this application process.

Instead of trying to fill in the online form / quiz, you need to read through Canada's various immigration programs in detail to understand what the criteria are to apply. You can find this information here:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/apply.asp

If you don't have the time or feel uncomfortable doing this research yourself, then I would recommend that you hire an immigration consultant or lawyer to assist you.

Hi

I agree with scylla. It strikes me as you are only thinking about it at this time. Paying an immigration consultant to help you figure out your options will probably prove of value. IT will give you a quick overview of your basic chances. (Realise however there are options that these consultants will not sell you - as they do not get paid for those, though hard work to succeed.)

Here is one thing I do wish to highlight. Having immigrated twice (once to central Europe) and then finally to Canada in 2009, this is by no means a simple task. I would suggest that if you are considering this, you should make sure that if you decide to do it, you are fully committed. It will likely require much more commitment than you expect, so if you are not fully committed, chances are you will fail.

Canada is a great place to call home, and I am loving it here. Even the cold winters are bearable when considering all the other wonderful perks of living here. For me it was worth the stress, effort and significant commitment that it took. Of course I made it so easy to say that.

The point is, make sure you reeeeeaally want it, otherwise you will just be wasting your time, and probably some money.

Good luck! ....
