We only sent about 40 pictures, but made sure they were from various times throughout our relationship. So one from winter 2005, spring 2006, summer 2006, etc... and also pictures of family events such as christmas, a few wedding pictures, and a few random pictures with each other's family, just to show that our relationship was well-known and approved by both sides. I was actually worried because we didn't have ANY pics from during the first 6-7 months of our relationship, but I explained on my application that both of us, at the time, were entering the relationship on a very cautious note and didn't feel the need to take pictures. Hope this helps :)

ONLY 40 pictures? OMG. My husband hates to be photographed, and we have only a handful of pictures of us together. I hope that's not going to be a problem :o

Don't worry about the number of photos, but DO pay attention to the other tips dlee31 mentioned. We submitted only 7 or 8 from various years and with both of our family members. In some of them, we are not both pictured so I wrote who, what, where, when for the content of the photo and said that the photo was taken by my partner or by me.

We submitted over a hundred (but printed on paper 4 shots to a page) of various events and of our daily life together. They are dispersed throughout the supporting evidence. For example I grouped evidence of trips and events together (vacation with friends, trip to the opera etc) and put all the tickets and photos together. Then I had a few sets of photos by themselves.

BUT we are a new couple: we just completed one year of continuous cohabitation and my marriage ended shortly before (um, very shortly before). My divorce isn't even finalized yet (you need one year of separation and then you need to wait for things to be processed) so I could only submit a certified copy of the divorce application and my income tax return with "separated" marital status with my application.

I therefore submitted extra evidence to compensate for any questions that may arise in the officer's mind because of the extraordinary circumstances of our getting together. Had we been married for several years with no prior marriage I would have submitted less.

I don't have much prior to 2008 because I had an apartment fire and lost everything.. I mention that several times in my package and I hope that it won't be a problem.. we have plenty of other evidence of our relationship! I'm probably going overboard with the pics.. I may need to downgrade a little! I planned on just leaving them in the walmart folder thing they came in.. is that ok? I don't like the idea of them loosely floating around the paperwork, and I know that 'scrapbooking' and other binding things aren't allowed.

It's fine to put them in some sort of folder and I'm sure that the Walmart folder is okay but keep in mind that they won't necessarily return the pictures to you when they are done. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.

I suppose that if they think they're your only copies, they're more likely so send them back, but I wouldn't send them your only copies. You're probably not doing that, but I just thought I should mention it.
