Hello everyone!

My common law spouse and I have just submitted our application.
We just have a few questions..
-Ecas has been linked and we're checking it daily..
1. For outland US applicants for common law, is there a timeline or a spreadsheet going so that we can add our info to it?

2. Now that we've submitted the application. I read on here that now I, the principal applicant, can apply to be covered by MSP (for cheaper.) I've been here for over a year now. Is this true? Since I'm, past the waiting period?

3. Is there anything we should be looking out for? I.e. emails, good signs, bad signs..

*Our lawyer who's been doing immigrations for over 20 years said we had one of the most organized and thorough applications he's ever seen in respect to the new format. If there's interest, I will post picture we took of our application and some explanations of how we did it.

hi, assuming you applied outland, the next step is the sponsor receiving the acknowledgement of receipt (AOR) for both applications and the sponsor approval (SA) letter. i would recommend hanging out on the thread specific to february or march applicants so you can track when others start receiving notification. don't expect anything immediately. it can take 2 weeks to 2 months to start receiving communication. If your attorney is your representative, all communication will be sent to them and they will forward it to you, so there will be a delay in receiving communication from IRCC.

US OUTLAND applicants are currently being processed in 6 months or less. Applicants from Aug/Sept are currently receiving approval papers, with Oct. applicants getting passport requests. There is a thread specific to US applicants that is active.

I would recommend double checking the eligiblity requirements for MSP. Generally, only PR applicants who receive AIP (approved in principle) as an inland applicant can be eligible for coverage in some provinces. i'm not seeing where MSP suggests anyone, regardless of their current status, is eligible for coverage. the definition of "resident" i see is Citizen or PR.

If you applied INLAND, then there is no difference in processing based on citizenship. The current expectation is 12-24+ months for inland.

We applied OUTLAND without a representative.
We haven't gotten any other info other than the initial emails telling us they've received the application and to link our application.

What is the AOR?

1. There is a more generic one here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1QCWtvz-ZMSd0HyJ_aIaGnmsK8S6AoUgJBTv9KHGNPuQ/edit#gid=992511551
2. No, you will be eligible for MSP only "after you become a Canadian PR"
3. Wait for any email from CIC about missing docs, or approval of sponsor, followed by next stage
4. Make an account and check any notifications here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/e-services/account.asp
5. You can also use ECAS: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/authenticate.do

acknowledgement of receipt. this is what IRCC will send after they have confirmed the application is considered "complete" - no outdated/missing forms or missing signatures. if anything is missing, they will notify the sponsor before sending the AOR. all notifications are sent by email.

as stated above, it is not sent immediately. it can take 2 weeks to 2 months to receive. you will not receive anything from IRCC unless they need something. this process is in the dark. expect very little communication from IRCC. it's primarily sit and wait.

again, i recommend finding the thread specific to the month you applied so you can gauge when others have received notifications.

This is incorrect... if you live in BC, you are eligible to apply for MSP after your PR application reaches a certain stage. Take a look at this thread I just updated: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/fighting-for-msp-provincial-coverage-for-pr-applicants-in-process-t401398.0.html

Please do! I'm submitting a common-law application next week and would like to get an idea of how the new applications are being put together :) You should post to this thread so everyone can refer to it:
