Yea i have been here since 2016 so 11 years...i came here when i was 17....now i will let you digest that!!! :P

Not very different than my case. I left home when I was 17 too. But lived in a third country before coming here. My theory is that if one is from a "high risk" country and have lived here long enough, the security check for their app takes more time, as there is more data on file to process.

If i renewed my work permit, do i need to upload that using a case specific inquiry or do they already know that i renewed it from the UCI ?

I think work permit is not required.

If you have the check list(IMM5690) of application you submitted there was no work permit required even at the time of application submission.

Hope my answer will help

No you don't need to inform them.. I had my work permit renewed and did not inform them it was all fine.

What did they ask you?

I landed at Coutts, AB on Apr 27 2017. It took about 15 mins, 5 mins at the US border and 10 mins at Canadian. It was very quite at both borders since I was the only one during the whole process. Only the Two questions on COPR were asked. Quick and Easy.

LOL!
This right here.... ;D

it does not really speed up your process you can very well do it if you like that way when they send you the request they would already have the medical results on hand and just move forward. Rest folks who have done the upfront medical would tell you more

I did upfront medicals 4 months in advance of their planned medical request date. I don't think it has helped with expediting my file. I've been waiting for more than 17 months now and my medical is about to expire in two months. If the delay is continued (very likely), I have to redo the medical, pay additional fees, and maybe this time it will actually translate into additional delays (the delays associated to sending the request, booking appointment, sending the results, reviewing, etc.).

They actually extend your medicals automatically for another year. Order your notes and you will see this.

upfront anything doesn't speed up the process, if not slowing it down
