Hi Everyone,

I have a query regarding applying for citizenship. Can someone please guide me. Appreciate your help and Thanks in advance.

I am an Indian citizen and received PR in Oct 2019 while working in USA (work visa). I did travel between USA and Canada about 3-4 times till finally able to relocate from USA in Feb 2021. Each trip was for the duration of few days.

1. Do I need a PCC from India if I became PR in Oct 2019 and never traveled to India since?

My last travel to India was in Dec 2018-Jan 2019 and returned to USA. Also, I have not stayed in India for more then 60 days any year since 2016.

Thanks

Hi,

I'm in the same boat... Nope you dont need a PCC from India, since you havent stayed more than 180 days

I have a related question regarding PCC. How is the 180 day criteria calculated? Does the 180 days have to be consecutive on a single trip or can it be across multiple trips?

As per IRCC 180 days has to be consecutive. Please refer the below link
https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-0002-application-canadian-citizenship-under-subsection-5-1-adults-18-years-older.html

Example 3
In the past 4 years, you took 10 trips to the United States of America (USA). Each trip lasted 3 weeks, for a total of 210 days. You would answer “No” to the question and you would not need to provide a police certificate from the USA because you did not spend 183 days or more in a row in the USA.
