Just a random guess here, the next wave of test invites (for those with BG completed and last update on April 23) will probably go out around the 1-year mark, i.e closer to November 2021.
I somehow feel that is a pessimistic view . But again with so much of uncertainties , it could well be true .
Maya88....IMO.....in all probabilities you might not get the free month of coffee from Salem10 :)

"Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst and unsurprised by anything in between".
I think it's sensible to adopt this motto to manage our expectations regarding IRCC.

Even my bg check is in process , last update 23 April , I have seen people getting test with bg in process . So let see ,I would assume august mid or end for test invite (for those whose bg is complete )

I was hoping in July .... Even August works if they can make decision on our applications before November :p ....but it looks like IRCC again stuck somewhere ...let see when is our turn .

Oh that will be so awesome!!!

Looks fun!

So, I passed my test 2 days back. Hoping the oath ceremony to be in say 3-4 month's time. Certificate say 2 weeks. Passport another 1 month. So anywhere between 3 & half to 4 & half months from now.

So.. Passport (in general for us Nov 2020 applicants) my prediction.. by Dec 2021.

Don't get me wrong. My hope was like.. september. But my sadly, more realistic expectation is December / January . ( January because of all the holidays in December.
what is your prediction ?

With each passing day not bringing any positive updates, I would say early 2022......

Reason ------

1. Summer vacation / staycation...
2. COVID scenario is still fluid...if another spike in cases happen....
3. Humongous backlog.....

Again these are my guesses....

I would say December 2021, but the most important part is the oath, If we can get it done in the next 3 months I am happy!
I read in a news snippet that USA has about 1 million passport backlog.. I would think a similar situation exists in Canada as well. As more people try to travel and get new / renew passports, timelines are definitely going to be stretched to get the passport on hand. Isn't it?

Probably! Let's see how it goes, it is still 5.5 months till the end of the year.

December 2021 hinges on two pre-conditions, in my mind:

a) In-person testing/interview and Online Testing/Interview running concurrently between the next 5 odd months.

b) In-person oaths going to maximum capacity in-person events by September (albeit with Face Masks, etc). Call me old-fashioned, but I personally wanted my citizenship oath to be in-person so at least some members of my family could come and attend as guests, seeing as it is a momentous occasion and the end of a long journey filled with trials and tribulations.

The biggest question is if the IRCC has the actual capacity to run both simultaneously (online and in-person), or if it has to be one or the other.

If it does happen, then the backlog can be significantly reduced if run efficiently.

Ultimately, it's anyone's guess at this point. There are political aspects to this as well; certain pundits seem quite sure that Trudeau may call for a snap election in the fall this year, failing which it will be October 2023. Additionally, it does seem that certain services are getting into gear in some of the sub-orgs as well.

This leads me to believe that there does seem to be some sort of 'return to the office' plan for the IRCC that we might not be privy to and has likely been in place at least 2 weeks before now, with a possible full ramp-up time by around September end or so. This will vary provincially (based on provincial reopening plans, of which ON seems the most sluggish for now), but the timelines are governed by a certain 'drop-dead' date that is provided federally.

I also want my citizenship oath to be in-person, I don't mind doing it online, as long as it's done. I was thinking about it actually and maybe you can just book an appointment in the future just to take a picture with a judge, I bet they will be okay with it.
