Hey everyone. Does anyone know how to apply online for SIN? I checked the website numerous times and it always says that this service is unavailable and that we should apply by mail. I don't want to send originals via mail, so would prefer online application if possible. Did anyone have experience?

I see what you're referring to and it seems like it's a temporary issue, maybe with their software or internal system? I would be reluctant to send originals via mail too, but it's your call. Maybe they'll be accepting SIM applications online again soon, or you may figure that it's worth the risk to submit originals and have your SIM assigned rather than waiting.

There doesn't seem to be any other option if you really need the SIN. and yes, I also don't wanna send original documents by mail.
Also, the website says refrain from applying for SIN unless it is urgent. Any idea what is considered as urgent?

Anyone get ahold of service Canada to see about the sin process? I applied online and submitted an inquiry but they were unable to assist and directed me to call the sin registration office but they haven’t been accepting any calls for a week.

I applied on the 6th of April, service Canada confirmed they mailed it out on Friday.

Mine was 2024 and I called for an update, I’m sure yours must be in the mail if all docs were submitted properly.
