It's unfortunate that we immigrated to and live in a free country, but we are still afraid of government retaliation, a reminiscent of the practices we left behind. This is because we immigrants feel we are not protected, and IRCC can basically do anything without anyone knowing anything because of the lack of transparency. Freedom and rights in Canada are for some people. They are not principles.

Quite frankly, I do not expect that this will get any better because the state itself will never cease to expand and look after its own interests, so whenever a state/individual interaction happens, the state will never lose. This not only applies here but anywhere in the world. However, I agree with you that in some countries this is much worse.

For those waiting in Montreal, I've finally received the oath ceremony date - Nov 17th (no email yet though). Will be 3 days short of 2 years since they received my application. And the DM was July 22.
So Montreal seems to finally move!

I am so tempted to send Vancouver office an email enquiring about the delay with my application. On the other hand, I feel like it might backfire.

Also from Vancouver, waitin for oath invitation - I haven't seen anyone from Van on this forum with Oauth scheduled during last month, this is disturbing...

I checked my tracker this morning and I see something weird. The Background Verification was completed in Jul 2020. Now, the Background Verification is back to "In progress". Does that mean they will send me another FR request? My first FR was in Mar 2020. If I am correct, will that add up another few months of waiting?

Thank you! They sent the first FR request to my email. Will the second one be through email or mail? Because I did read from this forum that you can make the FP request ready and mail it to you address. Once, you received the request, you can redirect it to the office.

A couple of notes on the process. I contacted my MP in April this year and a week later I was scheduled to take the citizenship test. Similarly, I ordered the GCMS notes on my file about 3 weeks ago, I received them yesterday and my file was updated today. I encourage everyone that's still waiting to reach out to your MP and to order the notes on your file! It appears that just the act of IRCC taking a look at your file may speed up the process.

For more than a year I've started every single day by coming to this forum hoping to get updates and encouraging news. I take this opportunity to thank the members of this community. Personally, it's hard to put into words how elated I feel at this moment.

Finally, does anyone know how long it takes to get the citizenship certificate after the oath? And how long to receive a passport after that?

I contacted my MP and his office contacted IRCC and we’re told that the security is taking time. I did my fingerprints in April 2020 and file was submitted in Nov 2019. It a seriously taking too long
