File Transfer: Still in SYDNEY
Any reason why file is still in Sydney? I couldn't see any updates on medical results , neither on GCKEY and Ecas. I called last week and learned that medical was passed by automated message. I spoke to a rep yesterday. I asked how comes file still in Sydney and has not been transferred yet. Didn't get any answer from him. In the meantime I traveled to Peru mid February, I sent new photos and all the latest information on the last visit to my wife together with the Chilean police cert. According to agent file will be transferred to VO which is Mexico but won't say when will be or why still not transferred.
Any idea why file is still in Sydney? Looking forward to your comments. Thank you
Medical complete beginning of March and application still kicking around Sydney. I called and she basically told me to relax it's a 12 month process
It's still in Sydney because transfers to Mexico are INCREDIBLY SLOW, sadly. There are others around here in the same boat as you (
@dorkismalorkis and
@starpanda are two off the top of my head). You could also check in on the Mexico VO thread for a better idea of what to expect from here from others who are ahead of you in the process:

Oh yeah - ours is still in Sydney for a month now after medicals passed. We have baby on the way and were
really, naively hoping hubby could make it to Canada in time for baby (a few weeks away!) - we reached out to the MP. She was great, she contacted IRCC. While our file is 'marked to go to Mexico VO' ... IRCC told my MP "too bad, so sad". Basically what
@starpanda said too: it's MINIMUM a 12 month process, so just be patient. In fact, IRCC said to my MP, "if I wanted hubby here sooner, why didn't I just submit the application sooner," LOL.
Isn't that the truth!
Unfortunately MEXICO is one of the SLOWEST and likely overworked VO's. People right now destined for Mexico City VO are waiting an average of
5 months from AOR to get transferred. Your application going through
Mexico can average anywhere from 13-30 months. I posed these questions in the MEXICO VO thread: why don't they hire more workers? Speed things up? Improve the processes for Mexico?
Are they completing any of the background check in Sydney ahead of the transfer? (Maybe?) - Although my background check hasn't started processing yet according to GCKey.... Anyway, point is, we don't know what the heck stage they are at... and it's SLOW going to Mexico.
Hard to say
WHY it is so slow .... my advice is meditate and totally forget about it. Instead, take a trip to see your loved one. I know that's what I'll be doing this Canadian Summer ..... I'll be on the beaches of Costa Rica reunited with hubby and our new addition!
