Hi everyone,

I am a Nov 26 2018 applicant. I received a RMCP finger print request from IRCC today and also noticed on the automated voice system of IRCC that “ We are processing your background check”. ( this wasn’t there till yesterday). So can our expert members advise me on the below question ? Appreciate your help and thanking you in advance for your inputs/ opinions-

1. Getting RCMP requests is a good sign or bad sign ? I have been living in Canada since September 2018.

2. I have a lot of travel history in the last 10 years including stay in 2 countries for more than 4 years in each country. I have not yet received PCC request for any of the 2 countries I lived. I had submitted PCC upfront only from my country of birth. So would I still be getting requests on the PCCs from the 2 countries I lived ?

3. In your opinion, having received the RCMP request, what stage of the processing of my application am I ? Still a long way to go ? Or Midway ? Or nearing completion ( how I wish ! )

4. If anybody has done RCMP di ger prints, can anybody suggest a reliable place to get it done in Toronto Downtown area ?

Sorry for the long msg. Thanks for all responses in advance.

Regards

Hey there, just want to let you know we were asked for an RCMP request in February. I've been told people with common names have been asked to verify identity. Others have said it is completely arbitrary. I don't take it as a bad sign as I do remember the checklist stating that if you've lived here 6 months, a police certificate may be requested.
I'm not in the Toronto area, but we went with a private finger printing agency. Give the closest RCMP office a call and they can direct you to the places you can get it done. That's what we did and the process was relatively quick. The prints were forwarded to Mississauga in about 5 business days.

Make sure you hold on to the DCN number. That way you can follow up with the RCMP to ensure that it's been sent to your processing office.
Hope that helps :)

Hey PR2018USA,

Thank you for your valuable inputs. I just got my finger prints done today and the agency said it would take 7-10 business days for the RCMP Certificate to get ready of all is well. Fingers crossed. And yes, I have kept the receipt with the DCN number safe for tracking purposes. Thanks for the heads up

Hello People,
I got a request letter from the GCkey for the police certificate, I spent most of my adult lifes in my vhome country. Doez that mean I will get it from my home country and also where do send it to when I receive it?

Pls advice

Thank you

@olaide yusuf
Yes you will need to get 1 from your home country and 1 from here aswell. You can upload both through your gckey or web form. For the police cert. From here i am not sure if they give it to you are if they send it directly to ircc. If it is that you get a copy just upload through 1 of the methods outlined earlier

Your letter doesn’t explain all this? Mine clearly said “certificate from where you spent the majority of your adult life since 18” and that I should submit it via webform. I’d review your letter, you don’t need a certificate from Canada if they don’t specify that you do.

Thanks sooooo much :)

I'm sorry for what I said earlier;
I was just trying to see it from all angles!

I am very glad you guys received it. What was the timeline exactly since app received and OWP, 4 months 1 week?

Quebec people- who did you use to do your taxes? I have been waiting for my husband to get his OWP and SIN number before we do them. Been in Canada since June 2018 but haven't done taxes since I left Canada in 2007. Any advice of anyone in Montreal that speaks English would be greatly appreciated.
