Hello all, for those of you outside Canada, how are you preparing for your move prior to PPR? Just curious. I am planning to move as soon as I get the COPR documents, and am doing a lot of researching. But I'm wondering if anyone has that same dark feeling of "what if I don't get it..."

There might be a possibility of not getting PPR if Eligibility is not met. Once you know that it's met, it makes more sense to start thinking about moving etc, but keep in mind that you might be selected for security screening, which might delay your PPR for another several months or even a year +.

I'd say that while researching is harmless and might even be useful, any real actions towards moving (like quitting a job, selling property, etc) before you receive PPR are unjustified.

What are the usual reasons for being selected for security screening?

I went through get gcms and it is definitely reliable as per others here and no it doesn't slow down the process.

Yes, it works even if you apply from the US

We both have very similar timelines. Even no change for me since IP1 4th of December
Thank you !! Hopefully we both will have some movement soon.

Dude, even I am worried about the first few weeks in Canada since I am planning to move with my family. Planning to book Airbnb as many people do. Still a lot of research to do. I am waiting for some movement in my profile.

Being from Middle East countries, especially with a Muslim name.
The rest of the people get screened to mask the real reason, not to seem discriminatory.
Do you mean screening is not for all and only for some selected people? I wonder how do they do security, is it via some third party in each country to check the details of the person or tie up with govt itself.. it might delay the process..

Blaming one community is not right if you are hopeful.Even some Pakistani and Bangladeshi getting PR faster, check on immitracker. There maybe other issues..misrepresenting,mistakes ,profiling of common names etc..Plus another possibility that they check randomly, there may be a team to supervise the system to check weather the approved files meet the standard and all parameters..before releasing ppr ...We can only guess..The country we are going believes in diversity !

Besides that there are other patterns which we can pay attention and that is the most important.. PPR days. .Most of the PPR are given on Wed and Thursday. .Other days are less active if you notice.. So guys keep an eye on the next set of PPR s. You never know it will be you. Those who think are strikingly close. .wait for Wednesday and Thursday. Very important. .cheers

Buddy,He didn't blame anyone, just told what he knows. You are right, there are multiple reasons for screening and one among them is the country of origin. It doesn't mean others won't be screened. From what I know, they screen if you are trained on arms and if any of your jobs have anything related to defense or anything suspicious.
