Most likely @margocan is confusing ECAS access with 'In Process'. I asked for clarification but didn't receive a reply.
Doesn't this mean AOR if online status is showing as App received.? Why do you have to wait for correspondence for acknowledgement?

Its still application received, not yet in process.
Just practicing for the real thing! And im 6 days post partum so all the oxytocin is still with me.
The Acknowledgment of Receipt "AOR" means they contact with you to acknowledge that they received your application, and when it happens you will have this line too:
We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on ....

Why some Brampton and Mississauga applicants who received their AOR after me are already IN PROCESS and my app remains unchanged? I received AOR on Dec 14th

Everyone's case is different. You cannot compare. It is believed that IRCC performs some basic background checks through GCMS after AOR, and before status changes to In Process.
The processing time for grant of citizenship applications is 12 months according to IRCC. Assume it will take that long.
I thought that after being IN PROCESS is that the background and taxes checks would begin!!
Well, nobody of us is not CIC officer to provide you that answer. Their way of pursuing applications is ungraspable. Just wait.

Anywhere between 2-8 weeks (or sometimes longer) depending on the location. For me it took approximately 4 weeks.
