Hey everyone,

I've been reading a few posts about the date people put in their paperwork that they're moving back to Canada. This got me worried because we put December 2017. We thought we would apply in October 2016 (but my medical exam delayed that), and CIC had a 14 month processing time at that point, so we put December as our move date, meaning we'll move as soon as we get COPR. This was before I realized it takes 4-6 months for US applicants. Anyway, should I clarify anything through an inquiry, or is it not a big deal?
So I just got an email from CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca saying:

"Upon reviewing your file, I noticed that your sponsor had chosen a date of December 1, 2017 to resume residency in Canada. In order for a visa to be granted, the sponsor must be a resident of Canada at the time the applicant becomes a Permanent Resident.
Your medical will expire on November 25, 2017 which will be the expiration of your COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) which cannot be extended for any reason.
Should processing of your file continue, if there would be a positive outcome regarding Canadian Permanent Residency, is it possible for your sponsor to resume Canadian residency prior to the previously stated date in order for you to land?"

I responded to the email directly (I didn't get any message in MyCIC or ECAS), then I got an automated email saying:

"This is an automatic response to acknowledge the receipt of your email.
Due to a high volume of inquiries we are only able to respond to case-specific inquiries and the service standard is 20 working days.
For general information, please visit the IRCC website<http://www.cic.gc.ca/> or Help Centre<http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/index-a-z-can.asp>
IMPORTANT: You must provide us with your application number in the subject line of your email and include in the body of your email the following information:

* Surname and Given name(s);
* Date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD);
* Unique Client Identifier (UCI) number / Client ID number;
* Category of Immigration (CEC, Provincial Nominee, Family Class, Federal Skilled Worker, Temporary Resident);

Please ensure that you are authorized to receive information for this application."

So am I supposed to submit a Case Specific Enquiry? Or was my response to the email enough? I'm not sure if that's a no_reply email or not. Any help is appreciated!!!

The email you sent was enough given that you sent it to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca directly.

Ok, so it's normal that an automated message gets sent to you after you send an email to them?

Yes, it's normal. You can expect a reply within a week from them, sometimes there'd be no reply at all. But if this is the last step needed to complete your application, you should receive your PPR in the coming days.

MyCIC doesn't show background check started yet, and my ECAS still says In Process, so I don't know if that was the last step. Maybe my accounts just weren't updated and it WAS the last step. I hope that's the case. ;D

Edit: I don't know what the content of your email is, but I do hope it says something about your sponsor going back to Canada before you land or the same day you will. Because that's what they need to know in order to issue your COPR.
And yes, I mentioned that I put December 2017 because CIC stated the average processing time to be 14 months. I filled out the application in October, so I figured we'd be approved in 14 months, which would be December 2017, and we'd move right after being approved. I stated that I had since then learned the processing time is much faster and that COPR expires a year after the medical exam, so we've planned to move no later than September 2017, and that the sponsor would resume residency by that time.

Then great! :) Ottawa is one of the fastest VOs, and I believe you will receive good news next week. :)

Thank you so much for the reassurance prvc! I hope there's good news waiting for both of us next week!

Hi guys.

What documents are they usually request?

Thank you! :)

Usually?
additional proof of continuing relationship; Advisory on Marriage; PR Sponsor's Birth Certificate; proof of severance of previous common law relationship; declaration of common law relationship; proof of separation with previous spouse; development of relationship; PCC; school records (for couples that knew each other from school); child's hospital records (if father is unknown), RPRF, etc.

It really depends on your case. If you submitted a straightforward case, then they won't ask for anything anymore.

I see. Thank you so much PRVC! ;)

Hi prvc,

Please I got two quick questions. I am thinking of asking the status of my application from my VO.

1. When you requested the status of your application did you do it via email or web form

2. Can you also pls give me an idea of the letter content.

Many Thanks

We didnt mention a specific date for the sponsor to go back to Canada but said " as soon as applicant's PR application is approved, 3rd or 4th quarter of 2017 or early 2018" will we get a similar email and instruction from CIC for the sponsor to be resident of Canada at the time applicant's COPR is issued? Or as a precondition to applicant COPR being issued.

Sponsor is a canadian citizen living abroad with applicant.
